“``Repent of the hard hardness that caused people to reject Jesus. And it's not just repent from individual sins, although we need to do that too, but we need to repent from the power of s sin and we need to embrace life in Jesus himself. Because we can still be pretty good people and live under the realm of sin and still be lost as everything bound to hell. It is only through Jesus that we find a life, salvation, and fulfillment in our existence. So turn away from a world that is opposed to God and embrace what God has with what God is doing through Jesus evidenced by the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.”

“Peter's preaching. Preaching to a crowd that literally crucified Jesus. And this morning, Peter is preaching through my word to a crowd that is literally guilty of crucifying Jesus too, aren't we? We don't get to point our finger at those people back then without pointing a finger at ourselves because it's our sins too that put Jesus on the cross. And so, yes, we need this message from Peter. So what time is it? It's time to repent.”

“We're to live differently. We're to live distinctly. I'm not gonna engage in that conversation because that conversation is cynical and sarcastic. I'm not gonna engage in that social media because those individuals are not showing love for one another. Not even gonna watch that video that talks about how an atheist gets embarrassed because God did not give us the assignment of embarrassing unbelievers. God gave us the assignment of talking the good news to them, the gospel, and to evangelize them. That's what we're supposed to be doing.”

“Folks, there's a sense that when you leave here this day, you're taking with you the name Second Baptist Church. So that when you go out there into our community, into our world, and you're tempted to say something you shouldn't say, to do something you shouldn't do, to say and do something with the wrong attitude or maybe driving down the wrong road with the wrong hand gesture. Okay. You're representing this church. And people can look upon you and say, if that's what Second Baptist Church teaches, I do not want to be part of that church. Not very Christ like. Folks, when we go out into this world, in this community, we're taking on the name Christ. We're taking on God's name as Christians. Do not do not take that name in vain by living out sin in this Christian life that we have. That's to profane God's name. We are his possession. We need to live like that.”
