#HumilityHeals
“Now, the next day, the whole neighborhood, the village is buzzing with the news that Elijah had cured the commander of the Syrian army. And you remember that you saw a man who had to find humility before he was ready to find healing. Story is about getting over yourself. He's a man who's used to being taken seriously. He was used to being obeyed. He was powerful, and he was feared. He must have hated that moment of embarrassment. But that's a good thing. The author, Updike, once said, looking foolish, does the spirit good.”

#TakeUpYourCross
“Getting over oneself. Our scripture, our sacred story says this many times. You're familiar with the phrase dying to oneself? Me too. But I can never remember numbers. So I I went to river Google to see where that verse was. It it doesn't exist. Similar phrases. I mean, Jesus talks about the need to deny oneself and take up one's cross and follow him. Paul says that in Christ, we are a new creation. The old one has passed and the new one has come. So it's not quite dying to oneself, but it's it's there.”

#AweAndGratitude
“I was thinking afterwards, how does that happen? And first I thought, well, it's all about gratitude. But then that's a little bit like the chicken and egg. I don't know whether we live with a sense of of awe and open ourselves up to that, and that fills us with gratitude, or living gratitude leads us into a world of wonder and awe. I'm not sure. But I finally decided that it's about getting over yourself, realizing that we are not the center of the entire universe, but it's about allowing ourselves experiences that make connections.”

#ContagiousLaughter
“But you see from a feather plastered to his face, a little drop of water that slowly rolls down his strong nose and then And then you hear it. this big man just starts to laugh, throws his head back, the whole world seems to be filled with his laughter. The little man beside him starts to laugh, the big guy picks him up, throws him into the water, and all the children go running in, and all of a sudden, the whole atmosphere has just changed.”
