46s
“Well, the divine solution to all this human mess, god's answer to our world's deepest darkness, is the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We get to be the voice of the one crying out in the darkness, a light of hope, a light of forgiveness. We get to say, I know a savior, and his name is Jesus. He is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. And then we get to tell others how we have been forgiven and how He has taught us to ask for and to offer forgiveness to others, and explain what forgiveness means, what mercy is all about.”
51s
“Have the love of God swell up in your heart so that you can only help but to overflow and share that love of life and light with others? Are we making his path straight? These are the kinds of questions that a Christian must ask themselves because following Jesus, especially in John's gospel, is described not as a one or two day a week job. It is a lifestyle. Are you helping prepare the way for others to meet Jesus Christ? Are you a sign that points to him? Are you a messenger of the good news? God is in need of the ministry of John the Baptizer, and we are it. Prepare the way of the Lord.”
47s
“The same should be true of our lives. Our lives should be an opportunity for others to be pointed towards Jesus. Our our actions should reflect the good news that Christ is alive and that Christ is the meaning of my life, that Christ has saved me. And so like John the Baptizer, we join in the mission of preparing the way for others. God will do all the hard work of saving someone. Our opportunity is to just help point to the savior, But God still calls John the Baptizer at work in the wilderness, out in the world, helping others have that encounter.”
