Called into Fellowship: Living the God-Life Through Prayer

The Bible sets the church as the ground and pillar of truth, and truth is not just facts that the senses can measure. Truth is God’s word, the real deal, the reality that makes free when it is known and walked in. Identity stands at the center of life, because the biggest problem in life is identity crisis. The first Adam was made a living soul, a creation that received life, but the last Adam, Jesus Christ, came as a quickening spirit.

The new birth brings the Christian out of the first Adam and into Christ. God does not merely create servants now. God reproduces Himself and brings His children into the God kind, not as “the God,” but as children who carry His life and nature. Fellowship, koinonia, means sharing together, oneness, union, participation in the divine experience. First Corinthians 1:9 declares that God is faithful and has called His own into fellowship with His Son.

Knowledge determines the quality of life lived. Second Peter says grace and peace are multiplied through knowledge, and grace is not only unmerited favor but divine ability at work in a human being. Righteousness is a gift, already placed in the account of the believer through the obedience of Christ. The divine life is already given, but the word is the mirror where the real person is seen and acted upon.

First John says God has given eternal life, zoe life, and that life is in His Son. God’s record is higher than a medical record, a family history, or a feeling in the body. Prayer then rises from confidence, because if anything is asked according to His will, in the name of Jesus and in faith, He hears. Prayer is more than getting answers. Prayer is fellowship, communication, sharing, and bringing God into the earth where human beings have been given authority.

Speaking in tongues becomes vital because Jesus said believers shall speak with new tongues. First Corinthians 14 says tongues speak not unto men but unto God, uttering mysteries in the Spirit. Tongues are coded language, heaven’s vocabulary, flawless words for communicating with a holy God. Prayer in the Spirit edifies, refreshes, revives, and charges the inner man like a battery. The Spirit also leads, directs, and gives interpretation, rhema, prophecy, and guidance for ministry and life. The infilling of the Holy Ghost shows itself in utterance, and the laying on of hands releases power, because the Holy Ghost in the believer makes fellowship inseparable.
