[01:17:30]Verse 28: “crying out, ‘Men of Israel, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and the law and this place. Moreover, he even brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.’”
[01:17:39]Verse 29: “For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.”
[01:17:58]Verse 30: “Then all the city was stirred up, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.”
[01:19:28]Verse 31: “And as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.”
[01:20:08]Verse 32: “He at once took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.”
[01:20:15]Verse 33: “Then the tribune came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done.”
[01:21:03]Verse 34: “Some in the crowd were shouting one thing, some another. And as he could not learn the facts because of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the barracks.”

[01:23:00]Observation questions- What accusations do the Jews from Asia make against Paul, and what detail in the passage shows that at least one of their accusations was based on an assumption rather than evidence? [01:18:09]
- What does the Roman commander do when he cannot determine the truth because the crowd is shouting conflicting things?
- What details show how serious the danger to Paul was, even before he was taken into the barracks? [01:20:08]
- How does Paul use language in two different ways—Greek with the commander and Aramaic with the crowd—to create an opportunity to speak? [01:23:08]
Interpretation questions- Paul is rescued from a violent mob by soldiers who then place him in chains. How can this event show both real suffering and God’s control at the same time? [01:05:25]
- Why might God allow Paul to remain imprisoned when He had previously freed Peter and Paul from prison in miraculous ways? What new people would Paul be able to reach as a prisoner? [01:06:37]
- Paul asks to address the very crowd that had just tried to kill him. What does this reveal about how Paul understood his purpose and the value of the gospel? [01:23:32]
- The world often puts God “on trial” over suffering and evil. How does the truth that every person will stand before God reshape the way someone should think about sin, judgment, and grace? [01:24:55]
Application questions- Where might God have placed you this week—at work, in your family, among neighbors, or in another difficult setting—not merely by accident, but as an opportunity to represent Christ? What might faithful witness look like there? [01:24:19]
- Paul did not wait for a safe or comfortable moment before speaking. What situations make you most hesitant to speak about Christ, and what is one simple way you could be ready to share your faith in that setting? [01:08:08]
- Every believer has a “before Christ” and “after Christ.” If you had two minutes to tell someone your testimony, how could you make the main point what Jesus has done and is doing in your life now? [01:09:09]
- Courage does not mean that fear is absent; Paul himself spoke in weakness, fear, and trembling. When have fear or anxiety kept you quiet about your faith, and how can you depend more on the Holy Spirit rather than your own confidence? [01:04:23]
- Paul’s chains became a platform for the gospel rather than proof that God had abandoned him. Is there a present hardship, limitation, or disappointment that you have only seen as an obstacle? How might God use it to display Christ’s grace?
- The cross means that Jesus took the judgment sinners deserve. How does this truth give both humility when speaking to others and confidence that there is real hope for people who feel far from God? [01:25:37]
- Love does not hide the truth about sin, judgment, and the Savior. Who in your life needs patient, truthful gospel witness, and what would it look like to speak with both courage and compassion this week? [01:27:45]
