#AffectionOverPerformance
“Notice the importance of the question is clear. Jesus does not audit Peter's performance. He audits his affection because you need to know you can't earn god's love. You can only receive it. Because if you could earn it, that means you could do something to lose it. And when he shows up to Peter and asks him the question, do you love me? Watch this. He's not asking, will you preach for me? Will you sing for me? Will you give to me? He's saying, do you love me? Because god cares about our affection more than our ability.”

#GraceRestores
“The god who is sovereign, he's about to take the wreckage of Peter's worst day and meet him right on the shore at breakfast. Jesus didn't meet Peter at the beach to crush him or to write him off or to condemn him. He met him to restore him, to recommission him, and to teach him that god's grace reaches beyond your worst day, That a bad chapter is not the end of your story. That those tears you cried in one chapter, God can have you cry new tears in another chapter that in your last chapter, you may have cried tears of sorrow, but if you hang in there, God can allow you to cry tears of joy. This is why David wrote, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. And Jesus shows up to Simon Peter to let him know, listen, you failed me, but I'm not done with you.”

#RedeemedToShine
“Diamonds fall into a deep black oil. The diamond jeweler doesn't just walk away and assume that the diamonds have lost value because they're in the black oil. He reaches his hand through the oil. He wipes the oil off the diamonds so that they can shine again. You and I were so deep in sin that God had every reason and right to keep on walking, but he sent Jesus into this dark world to scoop us up with his love and dust us off so we could shine again. Is there anybody here that you glad god brought you out that he didn't just walk by you? He reached way down and he knocked the dust off so you could shine again.”

“Some people come to church and can't hold a thirty minute sermon because they've been eating on junk all week. But I come to tell you child of God that when the storms of life start raging, junk food ain't gonna get you through. You're to need the word of god in your soul. When you're tired, you're to need to know that those that wait up on the lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not get weary. Some of us. Some of us can't stomach a sermon because of what we've been nibbling on all week. And junk and junk spoils your appetite for a solid meal. That's good. That's good. Yeah. He doesn't he doesn't say entertain them. He said feed Feed. My sheep.”

#MindYourCalling
“Verse 19, he just says, follow me. Verse 22, last three words, he put emphasis on it. It's an imperative. You follow me. That's right. Yeah. Don't don't worry about John's path. You follow me and concern yourself with the path I got for you. And the problem with church is that many of us would be further ahead if we mind our own business. It ain't your business what God doing in somebody else life. It ain't your business how much somebody else give to the church. It ain't your business what somebody else drive. You follow me.”

#TendUpClose
“you got a serious task, Peter. I want you to feed my sheep. Sir. Hold on, church. There's another verb there. I want you to feed them but then I want you to tend to Peter Peter, I want you to know that what I'm calling you to, it can't be done in your own strength. That's right. That's why I let you fail to rob away some pride Yeah. So, you wouldn't have so much self sufficiency. You learn how to become savior dependent. Yeah. You need to understand, feeding, you can do from a distance. Yeah. But tending, you gotta do up close. Feeding, you can do from a distance. Uh-huh. Tending, you gotta get up close. And the closer you get, the more prone you are to getting bit. Preaching about it. Let me say it again. We need you. You can say you love people from a distance. But the closer you get, the more prone you're gonna get bit.”

#DenialToRepentance
“But bragging in the upper room is easy. Standing in the dark is another story. On the night that Jesus was arrested sitting by a charcoal fireplace in the courtyard of Caiaphas, a young servant girl pointed at Peter and said, hey, you one of them. You you you've been hanging out with him and the Bible says, not once, not twice, but three distinct times, Petered begin to curse. Peter swore he never knew Jesus. a few hours ago, he said, hey, I'll for you. The rooster crowed and Luke tells us that Jesus turned and looked right at Peter. And Peter turned his back and walked into the dark night weeping bitterly. was Peter's worst day. He is broken internally, ashamed, and feeling totally disqualified.”

#BoldYetBroken
“Everyone of us has had a moment where our courage failed, our flesh and our character crumbled under pressure. No one in the New Testament knew the crushing weight of a failure quite like Simon Peter. You remember Peter is what some would say, he was the lead disciple. He was the loudest one. He was the boldest one. He was the one who stepped out on the water when everyone else stayed in the boat. At Caesarea Philippi, it is Simon Peter who says, you are the Christ, the son of the living god. It's Simon Peter who at the last supper when Jesus told them that some would betray him, it was Simon Peter who said, Lord, all them may betray you. All them may fail you, but oh, not me.”
