45s
“Who am I to determine for myself who is worthy soil for the seeds of faith that I have been given to sow, that that we've been given to sow. So, yes, by all means, take your seeds of faith that you hold in your hand and throw some out on the good soil. But don't stop there. Be reckless. Be extravagant. Be wasteful. Throw some out on the hard and rocky ground of the unfaithful. Scatter it out among the scared and the skeptical and let it fall down on the undeserving.”
43s
“There's good reason that Jesus begins and ends with the word listen because he has got to be giving some kind of new teaching here. It's new way farming. It's faith farming one zero one. And in Mark's gospel, Jesus does not use the parable to urge the hearers to be good soil. He knows you can't make that happen. The sower is the main character in this parable. It's the sower's job that we're looking at, and the sower's job is to what? Just sow.”
