#KingdomOnEarth
“``Where is the kingdom of heaven on earth? It can be found wherever people are humbly doing their best with grateful hearts. And sometimes that's at a small kitchen table with cheap hot dogs on styrofoam plates with joyful kids running. So aim up. Practice gratitude. Do this at every age and in every season so that while we are here on this earth we may all have the joy of experiencing glimpses of the kingdom of heaven. Do this so that when it is your time to return to the master what he has entrusted to you, you may give back more than you received with a grateful heart.”

“So aim up. And second is practice gratitude. Cultivate a grateful heart and in doing so keep bitterness and resentment at bay because if you find that the unfairnesses of your life are taking root in your heart, I can think of no better antidote than gratitude. So even if there's only one thing you can think of today to be grateful for, give thanks for that. Practice gratitude. Where is the kingdom of heaven on earth? It can be found wherever people are humbly doing their best with grateful hearts. And sometimes that's at a small kitchen table with cheap hot dogs on styrofoam plates with joyful kids running. So aim up. Practice gratitude. Do this at every age and in every season so that while we are here on this earth we may all have the joy of experiencing glimpses of the kingdom of heaven.”

“So what do we do with this story and how do we move forward in light of this? I believe that every one of us in this room could really make a solid case for why we are the servant with one bag of silver. Why life has been unfair and cruel and why God feels like a harsh master who reaps what he does not sow. All of us can look at someone else and see what they've been blessed with that we haven't. Their good grades, their ability to make the team, their stable job, the money that they came from, their healthy kids, their great marriage, their body that cooperates as age goes on. And the truth is that you might be right but that doesn't seem to be what matters. What matters is what you do with what you've been given.”
