Day 1: Trusting God Amid Pressure

In the face of overwhelming pressure and expectations to conform, it is vital to remember who truly placed you where you are and to remain steadfast in your faith and integrity. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were promoted in a foreign land, yet they did not let their new positions or the allure of power cause them to forget the God who called and equipped them. No matter how high you rise or how much you achieve, do not let the pressures of life poison your pedigree or cause you to compromise your values. Instead, use your platform to honor God, remembering that He alone is the source of your opportunities and abilities. [01:14:32]

Daniel 3:13-18 (ESV)
Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

The story of the three Hebrew boys reminds us that it is not our own strength, status, or resources that carry us through, but the God who walks beside us, encourages us, and sustains us in our most difficult moments. Day 4: God Is Able

No matter how impossible the situation may seem, God is able to deliver, provide, heal, and sustain. Even if God does not answer in the way we hope, He is still worthy of our trust and praise, for His power and goodness never fail. [01:20:55]

“Because they had drunk their Kool-Aid for so long, no one could tell them that they had become morally corrupt on the inside. and Shadrach, Meach, and Abedneo quickly discovered that everyone who claims religion doesn't always act religious. In fact, in fact, some, not all, used religion as a justification for their malpractice actions and their despondent tendencies.”

“He wants to ensure that everyone knows who built it and that they were to acknowledge it as an extension of his presence. So he writes an executive order, a decree if you will, that whenever the music comes on, everyone was to drop everything they were doing and bow down and worship this golden image and to send a signal to the people that this was supported by the leadership of the nation.”

“He commanded all the officials to come to the dedication and there he announced that if anyone didn't bow down to the golden statue, they'd be thrown into the blazing furnace. Or in other words, what he's doing is he's using his authoritative power to demand that people get in line with his decrees or face political and social retaliation.”

“And not only are they refusing to bow down, but they are also inconsistent of they are also insistent of not acknowledging his gods or paying any attention to him. And they understand that to do so to bow down would cause them to practice idolatry, which is when you put anything or anyone before our one and true living God.”

He thought that because he gave them a promotion amongst the other captives that they could somehow stop talking about the wrongs in the land. He thought that because he gave them a corner office and a nice salary that he could get them to forget where they came from.”

“They understood Nebuchadnezzar may have given them the office, but it was God who gave them the opportunity. They understood that the Babylonian king may have pulled them into the administration because of their skills, but it was God who gave them those abilities in the first place. Or in other words, Haniah, Misha, and Ezariah believe they needed to bow down, but they never let their tax bracket determine who they bow down to.”

“Some people get the Mercedes and then they forget the marvelousness of the master and they cheapen their character. They water down their integrity and their reputation becomes mud because they became a yes man when God was calling them to respond for such a time as this. But do you not know that God has called you for such a time as this?”

“This is when you lean into God. This is when you use your platform and your position to speak truth to power. He says, "Don't let the pressures of he or she keep you from doing what God has called you to do. Do you not know who formed you? Do you not know who created you? Do you not know who shaped you? Do you not know who called you for such a time as this?”

“And the moment you recognize that Nebuchadnezzar is not more powerful than your God, the quicker you'll be able to tell Nebuchadnezzar that my God is able. You don't have to conform. You don't have to assimilate. You don't have to water down who you are. Understand that when God woke you up this morning, he woke you up this morning for this time and for this season and for this purpose.”
