#MasterYourAnger
“God also warns him to, that he is responsible to master the sin that is seeking to, like a wild animal, to overpower him. What sin is God talking about here? The sin is his growing anger, his bitterness, his resentment and jealousy in his heart. His evil desire to lash out and do harm, it's inside him. And God says, master it, Cain, or it will master you.”

#GiveGodYourBest
“In other words, he kept the best of his land for himself and from God. Contextually, this translates into, listen now, no recognition of God's authority over his life, no humility, no worship, no expression of faith or trust in God, and no sense of gratitude for God's blessings in his life. And this mindset, the Bible says, this attitude caused God to reject Cain's offering. Well, we have to be careful friends because God wants our best and he knows what our best is. And whatever that is, if we withhold our best from him, that could make us just like Cain. And we don't want that.”

#EmbraceYourCalling
“John knew what he was to do. It was to point people to Jesus and he did just that. When I'm working on a wood project, I have a plan, an image of the finished product. I have my tools and my abilities and a place to work. These things may be different from others, but I don't compare myself with others. I just do my tasks and find joy in the doing. And I think John was like that. I'm not Jesus, he said. I'm not anybody. I'm me. I don't have their job. I have my job. I have my place to work in this world, and I'm gonna give it by a 100%. That's what I'm here to do.”

#LiveTheFruit
“Love is the reaction to people's malice. Joy is the reaction to depressing circumstances. Peace is the reaction to troubles, threats, and anxiety, patience is the reaction to all that is maddening, kindness is the reaction to all that is unkind, goodness is a reaction to bad people and bad behavior. Faithfulness is a reaction to lies and fury. Meekness is a reaction to hurt without offense and self control is a reaction to every situation that attempts you to lose your cool.”

#UseYourGifts
“I know I don't have your abilities. I respect them. I'm not envious that you can do things that I can't, maybe a little bit. Just a tiny little bit sometimes. But the truth is I'm not called to do what you do. So I'm not equipped to do what you do. And the point I'm making is if we all use our gifts that God has given us, all the needs among us will be met.”

#BeASolidLink
“But when we each have our contribution, the plan of redemption gets worked out in our generation. John had humility and John had his task to do and and he he he lived that out, but he knew it was part of something bigger and he was part of the chain links. And friends, we don't want to break the chain. We want our link to be solid, attached to the bigger picture. Here's a summary of the life lessons from John. All God's people are to possess a humble spirit, live out their God given purpose, and keep God's redemptive plan in mind and all they do.”

#GodCallsAndProvides
“God always informs us of his expectations. He clearly outlines the outcomes of both obedience and disobedience. He identifies areas in our lives requiring change. That might be something for me, maybe something different for you, but God always pinpoints the areas in our lives that require changing. God confronts us when we maintain harmful attitudes and behaviors. And God makes provision for our success. And he always holds us accountable for willful disobedience.”

#RivalryToPartnership
“Suddenly, the door to her cafe opened, and in walked Elena. The competitor, remember? The rival, remember? In her hand was a thermos and the ingredients that Sarah needed. Elena said, I saw the line earlier and then the sign that said sold out and I heard about you running out of ingredients and so I brought some for you. She held out the ingredients and said, the festival isn't over. I'd like to help you if that's okay. Sarah was stunned and she asked, why would you do that? We're competitors. Elena said, because your tarts and croissants are amazing and your success, listen, is important to me. Tears filled Sarah's eyes and she graciously accepted the offer and the two of them, the rivals began baking tarts and croissants. And later celebrated success with record sales for both.”
