God is still on the throne, king of all kings and lord of all lords, and His presence makes the ground fertile for the engrafted word. Faith is not being foolish, presumptuous, or careless. Faith is living by the faith of God that God Himself put inside every person, the measure of faith given so that Christ can be believed, received, and followed.
Luke 17 shows the apostles saying, “Lord, increase our faith,” because they already had faith but felt the command of Jesus was too big for what they had. Jesus answers that faith as small as a grain of mustard seed can speak to a mulberry tree, that deep-rooted, stubborn thing, and tell it to be pulled up and planted in the sea. The mulberry tree becomes a picture of roots that have been there a long time, roots that feel impossible, roots like bitterness, racism, injustice, offense, and resentment. The word of God coming out of the mouth is like a hammer that crushes every stubborn rock of resistance and like a fire that burns away what does not belong.
Jesus brings that faith lesson through forgiveness. Luke 17 says that if a brother or sister misses the mark, correction must come in meekness and love, and if repentance comes, forgiveness must follow. Then Jesus takes it higher. Even if the same person sins seven times in a day and returns seven times saying, “I repent,” forgiveness must keep coming. That kind of command makes the apostles feel weak, so their cry for more faith makes sense. But Jesus does not say they need more faith. Jesus says they need to use the faith they already have.
Faith works by love, and when love is unplugged, faith stops working. Forgiveness is not pretending the wrong did not happen. Forgiveness is refusing to hold the offense in bondage and refusing to let bitterness live in the soul and body. The Holy Spirit is the helper who gives strength to love like Christ loved, even when people dishonor, disrespect, rob, ridicule, or wound deeply.
The ministry of reconciliation is the greatest ministry given to those born of the Spirit. Christ gives authority to forgive, to mend relationships, and to represent Him without childish competition, jealousy, or church strife. Faith must be put in drive. The word must be applied. Love must be poured out. Forgiveness must become the place where faith grows strong.

Key Takeaways
- 1. Mustard seed faith uproots bitterness Jesus points to a tiny seed, not a giant supply, because the issue is not the size of faith but the use of it. The mulberry tree pictures something old, deep, and stubborn, the kind of root that feels like it has been growing for six hundred years. Faith speaks to that root instead of feeding it, and the word of God becomes a hammer against what has been resisting freedom. [21:13]
- 2. Faith works only through love Faith does not operate in an unplugged heart. Love is not an emotional decoration added to faith, but the current that allows faith to work. When offense, retaliation, and coldness take over, faith may still be talked about, but it is no longer moving in the way Christ designed. [15:25]
- 3. Forgiveness is next-level faith Forgiveness becomes faith when the offender does not apologize, does not own it, or even lies about it. Christ does not call forgiveness easy, but He does make it possible through the Spirit’s power. The soul that releases the offense is not excusing evil, but refusing to let evil keep ruling the inner life. [12:06]
- 4. Reconciliation is every believer’s ministry The ministry of reconciliation does not require a pulpit, a title, or a platform. Christ gives His people power to mend, release, forgive, and put back together what pride and offense have torn apart. Religious people may compete and hold grudges for years, but mature sons of God keep representing Christ. [28:14]
- 5. Faith must be put in drive Jesus does not tell the apostles to wait until they feel stronger. Jesus tells them that the faith they have can speak, act, and obey. Depending on God means moving away from self-reliance, emotions, and old feelings, then applying the word, applying love, and applying forgiveness.
