#JoyOverCircumstances
“Happiness, we hear it's almost cliche but it's true. The root word of happiness is hap and the word hap refers to luck or chance or Right. Well, we'll see kind of thing. Happiness. Yeah. Based on what happens. Yeah. So happiness is based on what happens. What happens rises and falls. What happens ebbs and flows. What happens comes and goes. Is that what you're gonna tie your inner world to and some But the biblical concept of joy is is not tied to circumstances. The biblical concept of joy is tied to the character of God.”

#DontQuenchTheSpirit
“If you're there's three things we can do to the spirit that we see in the New Testament. We can quench the spirit, we can grieve the spirit, which is in Ephesians four what sin would do. And then in Acts seven, Stephen ends with the accusation to the religious you've always resisted the Holy Spirit. You could quench, grieve, or resist. When when you're acting in a way unbecoming of the character of God, that's the ministry of the spirit. You're you're that's what you're doing. You're you're quenching his fire. You're grieving his heart. You're resisting his overtures.”

#SinIsTheRootProblem
“of what's wrong with human beings. People have psychological things, disorders we need to go on and on and on and we're dealing with mental health, all that's real. That's not our our fundamental problem. Right. And when we when we stop there as if that is, we're missing we're missing the fundamental problem. Fundamental problem is a sin problem. That's right. And so those sin terms go to the very heart of it. When you get to the word iniquity, it gets to it speaks of the guilt that you incur, but the root word for iniquity means bent. Something's wrong in here and it expresses itself in willful disobedience of God, in self centered living.”

#StopSelfPunishment
“to beat yourself assumes that your standard of justice is higher than God. Right. That that I mean, it's just something insidious about just beating yourself, turning it all inward, just piling it on. It's like you're overweighing something. And there's some falseness about that. I I just I'm like, there's something about the our assessment there seems really really off.”

#JesusTransformsHearts
“Jesus, and the story of Jesus to our lives in a therapeutic way. That's right. Jesus came to save us from sin. He died for our sin. He bears our sin. It's just sin, sin, sin, sin, sin. Right. You may not like that word, it's an ugly word, but it's even uglier what it does in our hearts and so it's to the heart where the problem is and it's to the heart where redemption goes.”

#OwnYourActions
“We live in a culture that makes excuses and and blame shifts. So personal responsibility is a missing thing for a lot of people. We were not quick to be like, wow, I did that. We're just not really quick to do that. Making excuses, deflecting, blaming others, I mean pointing to all the other factors to explain why something is the way it is. We don't we don't really live in a world where people like, that's me. I own that. In fact, when somebody does do it, it's like, wow. I mean, it's super rare. So when we talk about why people might resist confession,”

#GoDeepInConfession
“so what David did in in confessing those terms and then flipping them the other way, he allowed God to go to the deepest place. He got to the root of it. Right. He brought the root of his something's wrong in me and he brought that to God. Our culture we would say, oh, I made a mistake. Mhmm. David's like, I have sinned. Remember the prodigal son in Luke 15,”

#TrustedDistantCounsel
“I have people in my life that aren't part of our church family. They're in other parts of the country. Mhmm. And that's a great place to walk through these things because they're not there. You know, they can they can be objective and not be necessarily altered by, you know, whatever you're going through. Yeah. And I think there's two categories especially where this is true. One, if you have sinned against that other person. Yeah. You've done something involving”

#WalkWithTheSpirit
“Instead of resisting the Holy Spirit, we are now cooperating with the Holy Spirit. Now you're in Galatians five, walking with the spirit, and you do not, you know, carry out the desires of the flesh. Why? Because you're staying in step with the one Right. Who's who's empowering you, giving you the experience of God's voice and his presence, and all those things are happening. Why would you ever wanna forfeit that? Right. What would you what would you ever give in exchange for that? We don't realize that when we just, you know,”
