#GodsLoveFirst
“The timing's so important. And it's the point. God's love moved first while we were still sinners. And because of this, he made us alive together with Christ in verse five. Again, verse one, humanity was dead in trespasses and sins, but verses four and five says, because of God's great love toward us, he poured out his storehouse of mercy on us. And he made us alive together with Christ. So when Christ died, we died. And when Christ rose, we rose.”

#RichInMercy
“So says in verse four that he did this for two reasons. One, he did this according to his mercy. If you notice there, Paul describes him as being rich in mercy, but God being rich in mercy. The word rich, it's a wealth term. It speaks of abounding. It speaks of overflowing. God is not only merciful, but he's wealthy in mercy. He has more mercy than our sin has need.”

#ChristOurRedeemer
“He's the one redeeming us. He's the one who said we have sinned, that we have transgressed his law. He is the one who's given the law. He's the one who has given us the standard of righteousness. He is the one who sent Jesus into this world to confront our sin by dying in our place. Just by the very nature that he sent Christ and the very fact that he died on the cross for our sins, that reveals to us the seriousness of this and also the impossibility of us saving ourselves. Because if we could save ourselves, then therefore there was no need to send Christ.”
