Day 1: Giants in Our Sight vs. Giants in Our Spirit

The Israelites saw fortified cities and towering enemies, but their deepest struggle wasn’t the land’s obstacles—it was their shrunken vision of God. Fear distorted their identity, making them feel like grasshoppers. Yet Caleb clung to God’s promise, refusing to let external threats eclipse internal faith. True giants aren’t the challenges ahead but the unbelief within. Victory begins when we see God’s faithfulness as bigger than our fears. [59:30]

“There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.” (Numbers 13:33, ESV)

Day 2: Circling the Same Wilderness

Israel wandered back to Paran because murmuring stalled their progress. Complaining, jealousy, and negativity kept them spiritually stagnant despite being geographically positioned for breakthrough. God delays promises not to punish but to prepare—He won’t entrust destinies to unprepared hearts. Are you stuck in a cycle of doubt, or postured to possess what He’s shown you? [55:47]

Sermon Summary

Numbers 13 puts the children of Israel right on the edge of promise. God has already said the land is theirs, but promise and possession are not the same thing. The series calls that place “not there yet,” that tension where God has spoken, but the people still have to walk in, fight, and take hold of what God has given.

The twelve spies go into Canaan for forty days, and the land tells the truth about God. The grapes are big, so big it takes two men to carry one cluster. The fruit is evidence. The land really does flow with milk and honey. But the same report that should have lit their faith sets off their fear, because the people are big too, the cities are fortified, and the descendants of Anak look like giants.

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but the enemy’s greatest heist is not the wallet. The enemy wants faith. He wants tomorrow. If the enemy cannot steal the promises of God, he will try to convince God’s people not to possess them. He does not need scooters, trains, or technology. He just has to tamper with faith.

God did not send the spies to find out if the land could be taken. God had already settled that. The mission was not to determine possibility, but to understand the route. The question was never, “Can God do it?” The question was, “How is God going to do it?” The very thing God showed them was so big that it frightened them, and sometimes the truth is so good that it scares people who are not spiritually ready.

The wilderness of Paran exposes the circular life of unbelief. Israel leaves Paran, marches, murmurs, and ends up back in Paran. Murmuring keeps people moving in circles. A stank attitude, a negative spirit, jealousy, fear, and closed-heartedness can leave a person geographically near the promise but spiritually unready to possess it.

Caleb stands up with a different spirit. Caleb saw the same giants, but Caleb had a different word. Fear and faith cannot peaceably coexist in the same heart, just like hot air and cold air make tornadoes when they fight for the same terrain. Caleb feared God more than people, and that made him bold enough to stand in the minority.

The odds are in God’s favor. David’s stone, Ruth’s redeemer, Bartimaeus’s healing, water turned to wine, Lazarus coming out, and Jesus getting up from the grave all say the same thing. If God raised Jesus, God can put hope back in the heart. If a person is not dead, God is not done.

There is a giant that can take you down, and it's not the Goliath that's looking at you. It's that unbelief that's growing inside of your heart. But I wanna do some heart surgery if I can. Let's cut out the unbelief today. Let's take the scalpel and go around it and say, I didn't seen God do too much. He has opened up red seas. He has sent locusts. He has done plagues. He has fed us with manna. He's done too much for me to believe that he cannot do this too. So”

“While that might not seem significant to some of you, let me suggest that this might be the very thing that God is saying to somebody here today. See to spy out the land is to ask the question, can we do it? Can we possess it? But God had already told them that it was going to be done. So God was not asking them to go in there and say, can we do it? God was asking them to go in there to figure out how we gonna do it. And a lot of Christians and a lot of churches stall at the promise of God in their lives, in your life because you're trying to figure out whether or not God can do it, that's never the question.”
