The Momentum of Obedience: Heaven is on the Move Part 3

Kingdom momentum begins with a refusal to live small under labels that men have stuck on people. God has not ordained mediocrity for those who serve an omnipotent, great big beautiful God. Fear keeps many believers from ever entering the first stage of the life God ordained, because no one gets to the second breakthrough without taking the first step.

Matthew 25 shows how heaven’s kingdom realm works. The master entrusts resources according to ability, but he rewards faithfulness, movement, multiplication, and increase. The five-talent servant and the two-talent servant both move immediately, trade faithfully, and double what was put in their hands. The one-talent servant buries what was entrusted, not because he stole it or lost it, but because fear froze him into doing nothing.

Fear exposes mistrust. The one-talent servant had a faulty image of the master, calling him hard, ruthless, and without mercy. That wrong picture produced fear, and fear shut him down. God is not looking for a reason to squash his children. God sent his Son to raise them up, and the believer must know who the Father is, how great his love is, and who the believer is in him.

David and Goliath show that big public victories often ride on private momentum. David did not start with Goliath. The lion came first, then the bear, and by the time Goliath opened his mouth, David already carried the confidence of previous obedience. Momentum will carry a faithful person through obstacles that hold others in fear for forty days.

God’s guidance is progressive, not panoramic. The widow’s oil multiplied while she poured, the Red Sea opened while Israel advanced, the Jordan opened while feet stepped in, and Naaman was healed while dipping. God hides miracles inside obedience, and movement seems to precede manifestation.

Momentum must also be protected. Acts 2 shows daily growth, daily fellowship, daily miracles, and daily devotion. Acts 6 shows that even good needs can become distractions if they pull leaders away from what God assigned. The kingdom advances through faithful stewards who stay with what works.

Jesus sends the church because all authority has been given to him. The believer does not step out alone, but in the name and authority of the risen King. Stalled believers are not condemned by God. God empowers them, energizes them, and says, “Let’s try this again.”
