Acts 24 through 26 places Paul in court, but the real question falls upon Felix, Festus, Agrippa, Bernice, and every heart that hears the gospel. Paul stands as an innocent man, though Tertullus calls him a plague, a creator of dissension, and a ringleader of a sect. The gospel turns that accusation around. Christianity is a plague, not like COVID that destroys humanity, but a plague that saves people and brings life wherever it goes.
Paul’s life proves that the gospel does not create division for the sake of division. Christ brings Indians and Pakistanis, Jews and Greeks, men and women, into one body. The Way does not remain merely a religion or an organization. Jesus Christ declares, “I am the Way,” and only through this Way can man reach God.
Paul’s defense also protects the value of the human body. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The gospel does not permit believers to destroy what Christ has purchased. Paul’s conscience remains clean because Christ has cleansed him from within.
The resurrection becomes the central reason for Paul’s trial. Paul stands accused because he refuses to deny that Jesus rose from the grave and that all who die in Christ will hear the trumpet and rise again. The resurrection gives weight to suffering, holiness, sacrifice, and hope. Without resurrection, life becomes only eating, drinking, making merry, and dying tomorrow.
Felix responds to truth by saying, “Court is adjourned.” Agrippa responds by saying, “You have almost persuaded me to become a Christian.” Almost persuaded is not salvation. Agrippa hears the greatest evangelist after Jesus Christ, yet he remains on his throne. Wealth, education, position, and worldly blessings can all become thrones from which a person refuses to come down.
Paul’s heavenly vision began when a light brighter than the sun met Saul on the Damascus road. Christ stopped a man who carried authority, hatred, and violence, then made him a servant of the gospel. Paul can say, “I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,” because surrender followed encounter. The courts of Felix, Festus, and Agrippa may adjourn for a season, but the court of judgment will not be postponed forever.

Key Takeaways
- 1. The gospel is a saving plague Christianity spreads, but it does not spread death. The gospel enters dark places, broken cultures, and divided people with the life of Christ. The accusation against Paul becomes a testimony that the Way changes those whom it reaches. [72:26]
- 2. Christ destroys dividing walls The world creates hostility through race, nation, status, and history. Christ makes enemies into one family without erasing the truth of who they are. Unity in Jesus is not a social arrangement but the work of the cross. [77:34]
- 3. The resurrection makes life weighty Resurrection means death does not get the final word over those who belong to Christ. Holiness, endurance, and sacrifice are not wasted when the grave will open at the trumpet of God. The future resurrection gives present obedience its eternal meaning. [86:16]
- 4. Almost persuaded is not salvation Agrippa hears truth clearly, feels its force, and still does not surrender. Conviction without repentance leaves a person close to the kingdom but outside its life. Salvation requires coming down from every throne and bowing before Christ. [92:52]
- 5. Heavenly vision demands obedience Paul’s encounter with Christ on the Damascus road does not end in emotion or fear. Christ turns Saul’s surrender into a lifetime of obedience, suffering, and witness. A true vision of the risen Lord changes the direction of a life.
