#FaithOverPolitics
“I even struggle with this to some degree. I'm sure some of you I'm I'm willing to guess that some of you in this room struggle with this as well, but politics at some point has become have become the test for whether somebody was considered a real Christian. What you believe politically, at least in a lot of our minds, drives how what we think about you as far as whether or not you are a real Christian. Somewhere along the line, for some of us some of us in this room, but I I'm talking about the church in general. Somewhere along the line, winning elections and winning arguments became more important to us than winning people. Winning elections and winning arguments have become more important than winning people, than making disciples, than multiplying followers. And when that happens, our mission field is no longer a mission field. It's a battlefield.”

#ChurchFeelsLikeHome
“We wanna be the kind of place where our presence, when people walk into our presence, it feels like home. We envision current being a church that stubbornly resists anything that makes Jesus unnecessarily resistable. Where outsiders, people outside of our faith are amazed at how well we treat one another inside of our walls and incredibly blown away by how well we love them. That is the vision of Current.”

#MissionNotModel
“But churches when churches do this, when churches marry their their model instead of their mission, they can survive for decades beyond that, and and churches huff and do. But they'll they'll be ineffective. And we just decided from the beginning, we don't want to that. We just decided from the beginning the message of Jesus is too important. It's too incredible. Following Jesus is too, amazing. And we don't want that message of Jesus to become irrelevant to people that are outside of the church. We wanna make sure that it's a message that they can know and understand and and begin to, follow and believe. We were absolutely committed to our mission, not our model of making disciples and multiplying followers.”

#ChangeLivesWithJesus
“And, friends, can I just tell you? We are doing a great work at You are doing a great work at Current. Ben's story proves it. Jamie's story proves it. The other stories you're gonna get to hear this month are they prove it. You're doing a great work, and we cannot come down. We cannot afford distractions. We cannot afford to quit because the way of Jesus is the best way of life. It changes lives. It changes families. It changes communities.”

#YouAreNotTheEnemy
“In fact, if you're not sure where you're at as far as faith goes, I want you to hear this from me, because this may be different than what you've heard from the church in recent years. I want you to know you are not the enemy. You are not our enemy. And I am not afraid. We are not afraid. Like, I I know our leadership would agree with me on this. We are not afraid of non Christian people showing up at current church. We're not afraid of people who don't believe what we believe showing up at church on Sunday morning because we believe that the message of Jesus is so incredible that it will change your you're willing to apply it if you're willing to give it a shot. Even if even if you don't necessarily believe yet, it'll change your life.”

#HomeIsWaiting
“And we're told that eventually he came to his senses, and he misses home. The younger son, he misses home. But the problem is he's not sure if home is missing him. Maybe you felt this at some point when it comes to the the church or or faith. Maybe you felt this. Maybe at one point, you were thinking about coming back to church or coming back to to faith. And when you were considering walking in the doors of a church, you weren't sure if you were welcome. You weren't sure if home was missing you, if if you were even wanted there.”

#ChurchForExplorers
“But this mentality that churches are simply supposed to be places for Christian people to come and be fed and go deeper in their faith. If that's true, and that's its only point, where do explorers if they can't come here on Sunday mornings? Where do people who have questions about faith, where do they go if they can't come to church? Where can they go? Where can they belong? Where can they ask those questions? Where can they find out more about Jesus if it's not on Sunday mornings in a in a church among Christian people?”

#MakeDisciples
“And the mission that Jesus gave us, if you're a follower of Jesus, if you're Christian today, he gave you a mission and that mission is to make disciples or another way to put it is to multiply followers of Jesus. Part of being a follower of Jesus if you consider yourself a follower of Jesus is reaching more people and leading more people to follow Jesus. That's part of it. And Jesus followers, they just naturally or should naturally be outward facing people thinking about people that are far from God. Jesus followers are people that invite people to church and invite people to explore and discover Jesus. Jesus followers are people that create curiosity through the lives that they live and through the the words that they speak and they create curiosity about who Jesus is and why other people should consider following him. So we created, we we set out to create a church that unchurched people could connect to. We set out to create a church that unchurched people could understand. It wasn't confusing for them when they walked in the doors.”
