Like a seed splitting open in darkness, spiritual growth happens in unseen seasons where no one applauds. Trust that God’s timing cultivates lasting fruit. The world obsesses over metrics, but heaven measures what’s buried in secret. What is God nurturing in you that eyes can’t yet see? [11:37]

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’” (1 Samuel 16:7, ESV)

The checked phone with no text, the post watched for likes, the feeling left out, the fake “okay,” and the comparison online all tell the same story. The pressure is real, but the call is deeper than looking good.

The pressure to perform versus the call to be real makes a clear difference between excellence and pretending. Colossians 3:23 honors work done heartily unto the Lord, so preparation, discipline, and skill are not the enemy. David played skillfully before the Lord, and the Black church has raised singers, musicians, leaders, and confident voices through that kind of practice. But performance becomes dangerous when it becomes identity, when the stage ends but the real person never gets to show up.

God sees beyond the image. First Samuel 16:7 cuts through clothes, titles, followers, platforms, church positions, and achievements. Samuel looked for what seemed impressive, but God looked at the heart because the heart is where motives live, wounds live, pride lives, and humility lives. A pure heart refuses to let pain have the final word. Betrayal, rejection, disappointment, broken promises, and unforgiveness can harden the heart slowly. Jesus said the pure in heart shall see God, not the perfect, popular, or successful in heart. Sometimes the most spiritual thing a person can do is just breathe, inhale mercy, exhale what needs to be released, unplug when necessary, guard the heart, and let it go.

So don't let betrayal, don't let the algorithm, don't let unforgiveness steal your purity in heart. That's where the breath comes from because the breath renews repentance. I like to think of the inhale and exhale as another sign of repentance or the mercies that are new every morning because you have another chance to inhale and exhale and let it go. It's tough, but you can love again. You'll find better friends. You'll find it's more. It's more to life. God has more in store for us.”

“But before any of those voices existed, there was a voice of god. Oh my god. When god formed Adam from the dust, Adam was just a body until god breathed into him the breath of life. So it was the breath of god that turned dirt into destiny. God gave him the vision, which means humanity's first introduction of life itself came from god. Yeah. Adam didn't wake up and decide who he was. He received his identity from the one who created him. So you may be like me. You may have asked questions, am I enough? Do I matter? Am I valuable? Wow. Do I belong? People were never designed to carry that responsibility for you. So when you need people to constantly affirm you Come on. Yes. Good. And I'm talking to myself, you know, you'll become a prisoner to their approval. But true freedom begins we really when we realize that God's declaration over our lives is more trustworthy than any public opinion.”
