Both John and Mary, his mother, in this story, would have missed the blessing of Jesus if they had not been close to him. If, like the other disciples, they were far away from Jesus, they would have missed the blessing. They would have missed the savior's comfort if they had stayed away. God's answer to our pain is always at the foot of the cross.”
