Navigating Deception: Seeking Truth in a Misleading World

Devotional

Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

1) "So how many know that it's becoming increasingly difficult to discern what's true and what is not? That is one of the most frustrating things for me when I watch something, or someone sends me a clip of, look at all the tornadoes that hit Florida, and you have, you know, rivers running, and people scream. And I'm like, the thing was AI generated. How many know what I'm saying? So what is true? So we're living in an era right now that is becoming, even visually, is this right? Did this really happen? Well, we know there was devastation. We know there was a hurricane. And we know there was tornadoes. But what's right? What's wrong? And so it is increasingly difficult, especially truth from our government. Somebody say an amen or oh me." [02:07] (45 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2) "And we live in a society where lies and deceit are common. It is everyday commonplace, lies and deceit. And it affects both personal relationships and then in public life. And we know that false information spreads quickly online, making it hard to tell what's true. Once again, with AI generated photos and bots that, create false narratives and cyber attacks that are filled with just propaganda, misinformation campaigns, all this stuff actually is happening. That's not a conspiracy theory. That's truth. That's really what's happening, all this misinformation. And what happens is it leads to confusion with people. And sadly, the people of God, at times, we're confused. And we have mistrust. And there's division. People are misled." [03:38] (54 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3) "And the Bible says that Satan is the father of lies. And he knows his time is short. And so he is unleashing all his tactics to deceive people. In this day and age. Can I get an amen? Someone calls this this type of warfare, asymmetrical warfare. And I kind of looked that up. It refers to a conflict where opposing sides have unequal power, especially like if you insert terror groups, Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and these nations. So they compensate by using unconventional tactics and terrorism to exploit the vulnerabilities of the stronger side. So we live in a society where lies and deceit are common. And as a result, what happens is trust is broken. Trust, you just can't seem to, you know, who do I trust? And it's actually because of that, it's harder to form genuine connections with people." 4) "And here's the thing, escaping from mind control, it's very, very difficult. How so? Because it's hard to escape from a prison in which, you don't realize that you're imprisoned. You can't. You have the Church of Scientology. We've seen movies and documentaries on that and the fundamentalist Latter-day Saints and just cultic groups that use mind control on people. And when I think of the terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah in Israel, I think of the ideology, the religious and political methods, the education that they use. They indoctrinate the kids even at a school age and even in summer camps and social programs. And it's this anti-Israel sentiment and their militant messages." 5) "And the thing, once again, about deception, it's deceiving. It's deceiving. And when you bite onto something that's deceiving, it can have massive consequences. How many are old enough to remember 1994 when Rwanda, there was a genocide? Do you remember that? I remember that and saw the photos of that. And I've seen documentaries about it. There was a spirit of murder that was released. Between 800,000 and a million of them died, the Hutu and the Tutsi. It happened that the president was assassinated. His plane was shot down. And we're, listen to me, both of the tribes would come to church on a Sunday. These are Christians. And then within the week later, they were massacring the church members that were from a different tribe. It was awful. It was demonic. And it spread like wildfire through the country where over a million lives were lost because they believed a lie." [13:48] (58 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6) "So, when we rely on our senses or logic alone, we risk being deceived by appearances, just as Joshua and the Israelites were. So how do we apply this? Well, before making decisions, whether it's in relationships, watch this, career choices, or even your daily activities, and especially what you listen to on social media. Come on now. We need to seek God's wisdom. We need to ask of the Lord, should I really be feeding myself with this? Because, you know, whatever you feed yourself on, it's going to affect you, and your thinking, and your worldview, and how you approach, you know. If you constantly feed on over-the-edge conspiracy things, come on, I'm going to meddle now, and some of you might going to puff up like a toad, but, you know, well, the, you know, the chem trails that are out there, and the generated, you know, hurricane was from the government, and, oh, some like that, but, come on, you know what I mean?" 7) "And the enemy uses it to get us caught up in things that really don't matter, and take us off the main thing. It's the main thing. So, if Satan can drop a tiny little speck of deception in your life to get you off the main thing, to get you offended, to get you out of the kingdom purposes for your life, and then he has won. He has won. Am I speaking to anybody this morning? You're starting to wake up this morning, and so, so, you know, every place, we moved to, my wife and I, and I don't know. She feels there's more times than I thought. I always just thought it was a few times, but she knows exactly how many places we picked up and moved, but every place we moved to, we always looked for, number one, a church that we could plug into." 8) "So, let me explain to you how subtle and how powerful deception is. So, this one here, number one, because I marked it, is H2O. Come on, all you science nerds. You know what that is, right? This is actually reverse osmosis. If I could crack this open, it'd be a good, it is number one. I don't want to have a funeral for the pastor in his day of deception. He missed that one. Pastor was deceived. So, all the science nerds know that H2O is two molecules of hydrogen, one of oxygen, and that's water. And that's what this is. That's what this is. Now, the second one is different. This is actually hydrogen peroxide. Breathe a sigh of relief. I didn't bring some explosive in here. Hydrogen peroxide. Now, here's a thing about hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a substance that is not a substance that is not a substance." [33:30] (58 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

9) "Friends, I'm, by the power of the Holy Spirit telling you, all it takes is somebody from the world to give you just a little bit of false information. Not a lot. Just a little bit. Just to plant one seed, one thought. Hear me, one perspective, one opinion. A doubt that's different than the truth of God's Word, and it changes the molecular structure of your spiritual life to become something different than who God created you to be. You know, I see so many people, they hijack their spiritual destinies, and they go off on a tangent of deception, and Satan's laughing. He's laughing at I got him. Just a little. Not a lot. Not a lot. Nothing really big. Something really little. Got him off track. They were doing so well, as Paul told the church in Galatia. Who did hinder you? molecule did. molecule of deception. Such a subtle difference." [36:53] (71 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

10) "Joshua and the religious leaders got duped. Now, I want to paint a brief picture as we conclude. Joshua witnessed the miracle power of God visibly. He saw the plagues. He saw the plagues. He saw the plagues. He saw what happened at that, the Red Sea, the Dead Sea. Come on, am I, you hear what I'm saying? He walked where the walls of water were. Come on, somebody. And he saw where the walls came down, and Pharaoh's armies destroyed. And for 40 years in the dead, the Lord sustained him. And the victories now, as Moses died, and the power of God, as they destroyed Jericho, and the power of God was there. He experienced all of that. Listen, these were wise men. They were wise. They weren't fools. They were smart people. They were godly people. They were God-fearing people. They knew God's Word better than you and I, the Old Testament. They knew it. They probably had it memorized, many parts of it. And even though they had a mighty, powerful, visible manifestations of God's miraculous power in their midst, right before their eyes, they were tricked into believing a false narrative. One molecule. Two of these Gibeonites came in and deceived these mighty men of God. Why? How come? What happened?" [40:19] (89 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
