Multiply [Week Four: Faith That Gets Results]

Victory in Christ begins by tearing down strongholds in the mind. God names His people as more than conquerors, not less than, and the Spirit comes upon powerless people with fresh strength for the next battle. Isaiah 40 gives the promise to hang faith on: the everlasting God does not faint, He gives power to the weak, and those who wait on the Lord renew strength, mount up like eagles, run without weariness, walk without fainting.

Waiting on the Lord does not mean spectating. Bible faith is not passive religion sitting around until God does something. Faith is what belief moves a person to do. God looks for people who take Him at His word, step out onto the water, bind and loose in His authority, and expect miracle signs and wonders to follow the gospel. Faith can grow, and the Spirit still gives great faith, wisdom, healing, prophecy, discernment, tongues, and miracles for the building up of others.

Covenant gives faith its backbone. God is a covenant keeping God, and covenant means God makes promises and requires His people to act in obedience. Abraham’s covenant shows the pattern: “walk before me and be blameless,” and God says He will multiply, make fruitful, and bless the nations through him. Blessing is never meant to stop in a believer like a container. Blessing is meant to flow like a conduit. Without outflow, things get stinky like the Dead Sea.

The blood of Jesus brings the new covenant, and confession enacts covenant by faith. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, so prayer cannot become vertical complaining or merely praying the problem. Covenant prayer agrees with God’s word, claims His promises, and trusts His faithful nature rather than human effort. Obedience remains key, because covenant privileges cannot be claimed while life is lived in defiance of God’s ways.

David’s question about “this uncircumcised Philistine” shows faith rooted in covenant, not bravado. Goliath had no covenant with God, but David did, so the giant did not get the final word. Real faith hears God and makes a move: Noah builds, Abraham goes, Moses returns, Peter steps out, and the friends of the paralytic carry him to Jesus and cut through the roof. Faith keeps knocking, keeps asking, keeps seeking, and prays until something happens. The next step of obedience may be the place where the miracle is waiting.
