Jesus says in John 8 that those who continue in His word are His disciples indeed, and that truth makes them free. This freedom is not just a good feeling on a good day. Truth breaks the shackles of situations, problems, misery, sadness, and all the stuff that tries to lock God’s people down. God calls His people to walk in His standard, in His reality, and to carry freedom with an attitude that says, “Not today.”
Jesus declares in John 14, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The way gives direction to people who are lost and do not know where to go. Christ’s people cannot only wait inside the building for somebody to show up. The church must be the walking, living, breathing church out there, showing somebody the road that leads to life. A smile, a conversation, an invitation, and a witness can point a person toward Jesus.
Christ also calls disciples to become disciple makers. His word is not meant to stay in a notebook, a small group, or a Sunday seat. The truth that sets people free must move through homes, communities, detention centers, workplaces, and families. God uses people who have been changed to go back and grab somebody else, saying, “Come on here. Let’s go this way.”
The Spirit of truth, according to John 16, guides believers into all truth. The Spirit makes a person tell on himself, examine himself, stop before going somewhere destructive, and let God order his steps. Truth can hurt when it exposes old lifestyles, anger, addiction, bad attitudes, and wounds carried since childhood. Yet a person cannot keep running from issues and expect freedom, because issues left alone grow up like the Hulk. God’s deliverance begins when people face what is real and bring it before Him.
The Spirit of truth does not shame people into a box. Christ raises up old wrecks, changes lives, and makes others do a double check because the transformation is so real. God gets the glory when a person accepts the truth, takes ownership, lets it go, and rises into the calling God has placed on that life. Second Corinthians 3 declares that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

Key Takeaways
- 1. Continue in the Word for freedom [46:25] Jesus ties true discipleship to continuing in His word. Freedom does not come from ignoring reality or merely pushing through a hard day. Truth keeps bringing God’s reality into the places that try to bind the heart. [46:25]
- 2. Show lost people the way [50:20] Jesus is the way, and His people carry that direction into everyday spaces. A church that stays only inside the building can miss the Diane standing right down the road. Christ’s light becomes visible when disciples intentionally connect people to a place where they can meet Him. [50:20]
- 3. Face issues before issues face you [57:40] Truth requires more than admitting that something happened in the past. Truth brings hidden anger, addiction, fear, and destructive patterns into the light where God can deal with them. A person who refuses to face an issue gives that issue permission to keep shaping the future. [57:40]
- 4. Let the Spirit tell on you [58:33] The Spirit of truth exposes what needs to stop, change, and surrender. This holy examination is not condemnation, because God reveals wounds and sin in order to heal and raise people up. The Spirit orders steps by making Christ more real on the inside. [58:33]
- 5. Stand in liberty and take your place [01:03:19] Christ’s freedom means people do not have to remain trapped by their past or controlled by other people’s labels. God calls men, women, youth, and elders to rise up into their rightful place in His kingdom. Liberty gives courage to become what God has anointed a person to be.
