#PeaceLivesInYou
“See, Jehovah Shalom is no longer just something that Gideon got to experience. Gideon got to carry Jehovah Shalom with him the rest of the days of his life, but Jehovah Shalom has made the great transition, my friends. Jehovah Shalom would come to earth wrapped in the person of Jesus and live the perfect life that you and I could never live, and then Jesus would die the death for our sin that you and I should have died, and then he would rise on the third day, and he would ascend to the right hand of the father and the holy spirit of God, the paraclete, the one that truly is our peace, that now rules in our hearts, would proceed from Jesus to now live in you and Therefore, we now have him everywhere we go. So we do not have to fight for peace. My friends, you already have it. It lives inside of you. This is the gift of salvation.”

#GodSeesYourFuture
“This is odd. I find this odd, at least when I look at the text of scripture. I find it odd that the angel of the Lord would find would find Gideon stomping out wheat in a wine press, and he would call him mighty man of valor. He's hiding. Something doesn't add up. You're not mighty. In most of our eyes, Gideon would be seen as weak. He would be seen as a coward. Why does the Lord speak to him and say, hey, mighty man of valor. And I think it's something very important that we need to see in the text of scripture is that I'm really thankful that Jehovah Shalom will speak to our future and not to our present. Jehovah Shalom will speak to who you are becoming and not who you are.”

#ClothedInRighteousness
“Because jehovah shalom sees you clothed in the righteousness of Christ, not the way that you look at yourself in the mirror. What if you saw your way the way that god saw yourself the way that god sees you? What if you saw your spouse the way that god sees them? What if you saw the people that you love most clothed in the righteousness of Christ Jesus instead of in their current situation and circumstances? You would speak to them differently, and I'm thankful that's what Jehovah Shalom does for Gideon. He speaks to who he sees he will be, not to who he currently is.”

#RighteousnessBringsPeace
“We see this principle at play in the text of scripture as a result of of of Israel's backsliding. It's simply that, peace accompanies righteousness. When we are walking in step with the Holy Spirit of God, when we are being obedient to the word of God and to who the Lord has called us to be, then peace accompanies righteousness. But disobedience, disobedience to the Lord, living outside of the will of God, not aligning our lives to this text of scripture and to who God has called us to be, while disobedience disrupts peace. And so Israel's disobedience forced God to continually allow enemy nations to conquer them. And that's where we're introduced to Gideon.”

#ReplayTheCross
“But that's what we do. But what if what if we did this one simple thing? If you take anything away from this message, take this. Instead of continually playing the tape of the things that are making you anxious, how about you start replaying the tape of the cross? How about like you begin to replay the tape of who God is?”

#ProblemsWontHaveUs
“But the peace that the Lord talks about, the peace that we're gonna learn about today, it's a peace that ultimately wants to rule in our hearts. As Paul writes to the Colossians in Colossians chapter three, there was a peace that now comes, this peace is a person, and it has a name, and his name is Jehovah Shalom. The lord is peace. And we need to understand that, like, peace doesn't mean that we won't have problems. Peace doesn't mean that we won't have problems. Peace just means that our problems will not have us. That's it. Peace means our problems won't have us.”

#PeaceAmidChaos
“I think we should know this morning that that peace and being at peace doesn't mean that we are calm when when everything around us is calm. That's not what peace is. No. Being at peace means that you and I can rest even when everything around us seems to be all wrong. For our culture, for us, for people of God, like, we have often aligned peace with circumstances.”

#AskForASign
“I love this because, like, we may feel forsaken or abandoned or discouraged by the Lord, but but the truth is that abandoned kids don't get spoken to by their dad. Like, we we have everything that we need. Like, our father has spoken. He has given us his word. Abandoned kids don't get spoken to by their dad. Gideon needed to know that he could he could trust the Lord, and so he would ask the Lord for for a sign. Lord, give me a sign. Tell me. Tell me that this is you. Help me trust you, God. And you need to know there's nothing wrong with asking the Lord for a sign.”
