Bible ReadingActs 3:1–10Verse 1: Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
[36:17]Verse 2: And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.
[38:09]Verse 3: Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms.
[43:16]Verse 4: And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.”
[44:34]Verse 5: And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.
[45:53]Verse 6: But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”
[45:58]Verse 7: And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.
[47:04]Verse 8: And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
[48:55]Verse 9: And all the people saw him walking and praising God,
[49:33]Verse 10: and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
[50:30]Acts 3:11–16Verse 11: While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's.
[50:54]Verse 12: And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?
[51:39]Verse 13: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.
[51:48]Verse 14: But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
[51:57]Verse 15: and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
[52:05]Verse 16: And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
[52:10]1 Corinthians 11:23–26Verse 23: For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
[01:01:49]Verse 24: and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
[01:01:58]Verse 25: In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
[01:02:43]Verse 26: For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
[01:02:53]Observation questions- What details in Acts 3:1–2 show how long the lame man had depended on others and how regularly he was placed at the Beautiful Gate? [38:23]
- What did the man expect from Peter and John, and what did Peter actually give him in Jesus’ name?
- What words describe the man’s response after his feet and ankles were made strong? Where did he go first? [48:55]
- When the amazed crowd gathered around Peter and John, what did Peter specifically deny, and whom did he identify as the source of the man’s healing? [51:42]
Interpretation questions- Why might Peter and John’s decision to go to prayer after the events of Pentecost matter? What does it show about how believers should respond when God brings visible fruit or success? [37:42]
- The man asked for money but received the ability to walk. What does this reveal about the difference between the immediate help people seek and the deeper help Jesus gives? [46:27]
- Why does Peter connect this healing to Jesus’ name, faith in Jesus, and Jesus’ resurrection rather than to the apostles’ power or holiness? [52:10]
- How does the healed man entering the temple, praising God, give a picture of what it looks like when Christ makes a spiritually broken person whole? [54:41]
Application questions- When something goes well in work, family, ministry, or church life, where are you most tempted to take credit for yourself? What would it look like this week to give God clear and honest credit? [37:48]
- Is there a prayer burden you have carried for a long time—perhaps for a person’s salvation, a broken relationship, or a difficult situation? How can you keep praying with confidence in God’s character even when the answer feels delayed? [42:21]
- It can be easy to look away from people in need because the situation feels uncomfortable, complicated, or beyond our ability to fix. Where do you tend to look away, and how might God be calling you to see people with greater compassion? [44:44]
- When you encounter someone in need and are not sure what practical help to give, how could prayer become a real response rather than a quick excuse to move on? Name one kind of person or need you can begin praying for regularly. [53:53]
- The healed man did not use his new strength merely to pursue life on his own terms; he entered the temple praising God. In what area of your life has God brought change, help, or freedom? How can that grace become visible praise and worship rather than something kept private? [49:24]
- Christ has made His people new, not simply improved their old way of life. What old patterns, attitudes, or habits still try to define you, and what would it look like to walk as a new creation this week? [55:07]
- The Lord’s Supper calls believers to remember Christ’s body given for them and His blood that brings them into covenant with God. What helps you come to the Lord with humility, gratitude, and a serious joy over what Jesus has done? [01:02:09]
