#HeartSeenHealed
“``God sees deeper. God hears the things we say when nobody else is listening. God knows the judgments we carry. God knows the labels we use. God knows the people we have quietly decided are not like us. God sees the moment we look away from someone. God sees the assumptions we make about families who are in dire straits. God sees the way we talk about people who struggle whatever it may be. God sees the way we judge people who worship differently than we do. And God does not see these things to shame us. God sees them because God wants to heal them. That's the difference. Jesus isn't saying, look at your heart and feel terrible. Jesus is saying, look at your heart and let me do some work on it. Let me change it.”

#FaithThatWrestles
“She's fierce in a nice way. She keeps on coming. She keeps on asking. She keeps wrestling. She refuses to let go of mercy. And finally, after this relentless assault, Jesus says, great is your faith. That's amazing. Just think about that. The person everyone expected to be on the outside becomes the one who teaches everyone else what faith looks like. So what do we understand? Well, it would seem faith is not always quiet, even though we Lutherans might have something to say about that. Faith is not always quiet. Sometimes faith wrestles, sometimes faith questions, sometimes faith just cries out. Sometimes faith refuses to accept that God's mercy is smaller than God's love.”

“So what do we understand? Well, it would seem faith is not always quiet, even though we Lutherans might have something to say about that. Faith is not always quiet. Sometimes faith wrestles, sometimes faith questions, sometimes faith just cries out. Sometimes faith refuses to accept that God's mercy is smaller than God's love. And sometimes, perhaps more often than we realize, the person we have placed outside the circle is the person who shows us what faith really looks like.”
