#HealThroughHumility
“So what blocks our healing? Okay. So right here, I should say something really sweet, like, we're sad or we don't wanna ask for help. You know what blocks our healing? It's pride. It's pride. I don't wanna tell you that I got kid problems. I don't wanna tell you what's going on in my house. I don't wanna tell you that I don't like myself. Pride causes most people to not get their healing. And you can be in a small group, but if you're not telling anybody anything, you're not in a small group. You can lead a small group, but if you're not talking about your own internal life and your own house and your own world, you are not in relationship. And if you don't have relationships, you can't heal in a normal, natural, organic way by giving love and being loved, by being known and letting people be known.”

#FaithAndFeelings
“But if you go into a religious mindset, you're going to think, oh, I shouldn't feel this way. What's wrong with me? I'm not a good Christian. If I was a stronger Christian, if I was tougher, I bet no other Christians feel this way or go through this stuff. And then you're a confused way think, I should not feel this. I'm not gonna talk about it. I'm not gonna feel it. When as a matter of fact, it says in this life, you will have trials. You'll suffer. It's it's part of humanity, and it matures you to suffer. It helps you form your value system. It trains you to be in real relationships. And so if you get embarrassed about what's humanity, you form that critical judgment of yourself, and then you form that critical judgment of other people if they're suffering, thinking in a religious mindset, I should have control over this.”

#ProtectWhatYouConsume
“When we talk about mental health, it is about guarding what you put into your life. Guarding what you put into your life because whatever comes into your life, whatever you're feeling your life with is what comes out and what you think about. That's why we just read, whatever is true, think about those things. So we can't be watching stuff that we shouldn't be watching and then in our mind at the same time be thinking about the goodness of God. No. We go one way or the other.”

#ProcessYourPain
“Okay. So anxiety. So anxiety is not a real emotion. So when you have something you don't deal with, you don't express, and you don't talk about it, anxiety forms on top of it like a callus. The unprocessed, unexpressed something creates anxiety, and people will often have an intense anxiety about work or intense anxiety. You know, how often do you hear public speaking? Or I have this terror when my kids aren't here. I don't know what's gonna happen. So anxiety draws your attention over here to the thing you're terrified about, and guess what? It draws your attention away from the thing you need to be talking about. So we form a weird partnership with anxiety. It's like a distraction. And, again, anxiety is a callous on top of something that's unhealed, unprocessed, and this is another reason you need to go to counselors and coaches and friends and, you know, partners because we don't always know what that unhealed thing is. We all have blind spots.”

#SpiritLedSelfControl
“And I will tell you a lot of Christians come to me and just say, I I feel like this isn't working for me but and sometimes I have to lovingly say in my office, a lot of emotional self regulation and that's what I'm gonna talk about next comes from the fruit of the spirit. If you think about the fruit of the spirit, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, self control, those are the things we need in our lives. But some of us want to manifest them without really plugging in to the source of that in our lives. And I have a lot of Christians that we've got to do both. We've gotta set aside time to work on these this aspect of our lives.”

#SpeakDontSuppress
“So when you suppress, like you don't wanna talk about something or it's embarrassing or you think, I I've got this. What's wrong with that sentence? It's I. all it does is it prolongs the anxiety. It prolongs the depression. It prolongs the agitation, the outburst. When you don't properly examine something, it simply lasts longer. And don't be fooled if it goes underground for a little bit because remember, what will it do? It'll come back up with twice the intensity two, three years later.”

#FriendsNormalizeReality
“The people around you will normalize what you're thinking. So I will go to someone and I'll say, well, I think they they hate me. And my person will say, no. I think that's a distortion. Or I wish I hadn't have said that. This happened because I did this. If I'd only done that. You need people around you that will give you some normal and say, I think you're overreacting. You need people around you that will say things like, hey. That's self centered, or hey. I think that was a little hard. And if you don't have real friends, you don't have people around you that will normalize stuff and help you see your faults. Because the problem is there's a difference between what is and what feels true. And we will take what feels true and take off running. Right? And if you don't talk to people about what is in your head, you can't get that help and that and normalize those things.”

#DeclareTruthDaily
“Because a lot of us, what we do is we're I think the enemy's got us kind of backwards, you know. We wait till we have that thought and then we fight it. And that is good. Don't get me wrong. I believe in automatic negative thought stopping. I believe in fighting the enemy. But I think it'd be a good idea to get a little ahead of him with the Lord and actually decide on that truth that we're gonna claim and we're gonna believe in our lives. And before our feet hit the floor, we're saying things like, this is the day that the Lord has made. I'm gonna rejoice and be glad in it. And that doesn't matter that it doesn't matter what comes my way in the midst of it. I'm gonna give thanks in all things because I know God's gonna work them for good. And y'all, there's some stuff going on at our center right now. I can't wait to see how God works this for good. And that happens sometimes in our lives. And so we have to trust in that and claim that, and then and that's part of the hard work.”
