Men, We Need to Do Something Now

Psalm 1 sets the table with a man who will not walk, stand, or sit in the wrong counsel, because his delight is in the law of the Lord. The blessed man is like a tree planted by streams of water, rooted deep enough to bear fruit in season and keep his leaf from withering. The wicked are not so, because chaff cannot stand when the wind starts blowing.

The Father’s Day call presses men to do something now. The goodness of God does not shift with the calendar, and the real question is not who sits in the White House, courthouse, State House, or Governor’s Mansion. The real question is, does a man know Jesus? As long as Jesus is Lord, everything is going to be alright.

God is not just looking for “a few good men” like the Marine Corps slogan. God is calling for mighty men, men of courageous faith, men who refuse to drift, men who keep their ears tuned to His voice. A good man is compassionate, committed, convicted, convinced, competent, concerned, and consistent. A good man does not fight for popularity, acceptance, or money. Good men fight for the faith.

The condition of America exposes the church’s need to refocus, regroup, reload, and recommit. The culture cannot be blamed only on children, because adults are producing the songs, shows, images, and values that shape the next generation. The call is not to make America great as a slogan, but to make America godly in all things. Instead of criticizing the darkness, God calls good men to rise up, lead with integrity, live with conviction, and point others toward Him.

Good men are gap fillers. Ezekiel 22 shows God looking for someone to build up the wall and stand in the gap on behalf of the land. The gap is real, and trouble is coming, but the church was never meant to be a hiding place for believers. The church is a launching place for discipleship, and surrendered men must be seen beyond Sunday morning.

Every man needs a GPS, not a global positioning system, but God’s protection system. God’s system is voice activated, paid in full at Calvary, and rated by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Broken men are not useless, because God fills cracks with glory like gold in shattered pottery. When the world thinks a man is finished, God may still be putting him back together.
