#LoveNeverDies
“``And so again, he was able to see love in all of its different applications. And all of you are here. And you might think you're here because you love Matt. But you're here because Matt loves you. And I say loves because one of the most beautiful things about our faith as those who are followers of Jesus is that we believe that love never dies. And so, that love connects us still to Matt even though he's gone on. And so, he continues to love you and you can continue to love him.”

#LoveLikeJesus
“And so, we look at Matt and we look at the measures of love in his life, we can see that he loves others the way Jesus loves us. And we know then that we are never ever alone. That God's love continues to keep us connected to Matthew and to each other. And so Matthew's life invites us then to live in a way that expands that love, that recognizes that love is unique, that love expands and embraces everyone, that love draws the circle wider and wider and wider.”

#ChurchAndInk
“One of the things that we do at our church here is we feed people. On Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, we give out fresh vegetables and fruit and dry goods and to anyone who needs it. And so, we were raising money for that and we partnered with Tough Luck Tattoo. And Matt took such great joy in the fact that love could connect a tattoo parlor and a church. He just thought that was so wonderful. And so again, he was able to see love in all of its different applications.

#BelovedAndAnointed
“And so, it's a reminder that we are royalty because we are children of, God who is a king. So, when I got to Matt and anointed him and told him that he was God's beloved that he was gifted and created in just the right way to shine his light in the community, Matt began to weep. And there was just something holy and tender about that moment that I treasure.”

#MeasuredInLove
“Also, he shared that his family was the most important thing to him and you could see that. He lived his last days out with Allie in her home what a beautiful gift to be able to be around him and to love him up until the very end. And so Matt's life, as we heard in Seasons of Love, was measured in love. The love he had for his family and the love he had for his friends, a special special love that said, you know, friends can be loved as well. Love isn't just reserved for your significant other or your family members. Love is something that can expand out. And so he was able to expand that love out. I remember when we an alliance sang at a Christmas celebration at one of the country clubs, and they served us a meal afterwards. And Matt came up afterwards and he said, do you know what? I love you all and I'm just so grateful for this time together.”

#ServiceAndSacrifice
“They are willing to sacrifice their lives for something that is much, much bigger than them, their country. And in this case, when we join a church, we're sacrificing our lives for God. And so, what a gift that we could see in him, this willingness to sacrifice. But he also had respect for different people. And, you know, as long as he served, which is over twenty five years, you know he met a whole bunch of different people.”

#GratefulGatherings
“Love isn't just reserved for your significant other or your family members.

#SupportAndShine
“So you have to know when it's your turn to be in the spotlight and when it's your turn to support someone else in the spotlight. And I used to love to watch Matt in choir because he would watch other singers when it was their turn to sing. And yet, when it was his turn to sing, he was able to just offer his beautiful gift. And so, takes listening to other people.”
