Day 1: The Unbroken "Very Good" Before the Fall

God’s original design pulsed with life, harmony, and unshadowed fellowship. Genesis reveals a world where every star, leaf, and human breath declared divine craftsmanship. Adam and Eve walked barefoot in Eden’s dew without shame, their work joyful and their worship effortless. Death hadn’t yet breathed its corruption into creation. This primal goodness wasn’t mere absence of evil but the radiant presence of God’s “very good” verdict over all things. The fracture came later – but first, perfection. [01:25:16]

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
(Genesis 1:31, ESV)

Day 2: Fig Leaves and the Futility of Self-Covering

Adam clutched fig leaves, stitching a flimsy barrier between his nakedness and God’s holiness. Human solutions to sin always unravel – whether through busyness, blame-shifting, or religious performance. The first couple’s handmade coverings couldn’t silence the echo of “you will surely die.” Our modern equivalents – success, addiction, or self-help mantras – fare no better. True covering requires blood, not botany; surrender, not sewing. [01:33:38]

And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.

Day 3: Crushed Heads and Bruised Heels

God’s curse contained a promise: the serpent’s head would be crushed, though the deliverer’s heel would bleed. This proto-gospel pulsed in Eden’s ruins – not a vague hope but a specific prophecy. The battle lines were drawn: evil would strike Messiah’s flesh, but Messiah would destroy evil’s power. Every Passover lamb and temple sacrifice pointed to this cosmic collision at Calvary. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

Day 4: Blood-Soaked Grace in a Deathless World

The first death in creation wasn’t a predator’s meal or a decaying leaf – it was God slaughtering an animal to clothe rebels. Innocent blood spilled before any human funeral, revealing sin’s wage and grace’s cost. These skins weren’t just practical coverings but prophetic signs: redemption would require substitution, sacrifice, and divine initiative. [01:45:09]

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Day 5: Second Adam’s Sinless Breath

Yeshua entered the world as the anti-Adam – born of woman but not of man’s seed, inheriting no sin nature. Where the first Adam grasped deity, the Second Adam emptied himself. Where Eden’s trees tempted disobedience, Gethsemane’s trees witnessed surrender. The resurrection proved death couldn’t chain the One who carried sin’s penalty without sin’s stain. [01:50:14]

For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

Sermon Summary

Genesis gives the gospel its foundation, not as a new idea that begins in the New Covenant, but as God’s good news woven from the beginning. The whole Scripture bears one testimony, one book, one author, one faith, one story, one Savior, the seed of the woman, Yeshua, which means God is salvation. Genesis 1 through 3 lays out the gospel in three simple parts: God’s original plan, the problem, and God’s promised solution.

God’s original plan was good and very good. Elohim created the heavens and the earth, time, space, matter, animals, and mankind. Mankind alone was made in the image of God, placed in the garden to work it, keep it, fill the earth, and most importantly, fellowship with the Creator and worship Him forever. Genesis shows that death, pain, sickness, disease, and suffering were not part of God’s original design.

Genesis 2 sets up the problem with one commandment. God told Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because “dying you will die.” The serpent challenged God’s clear word, and Adam sinned, bringing the curse, breaking fellowship with God, breaking vertical alignment with the Creator and horizontal alignment with mankind. Sin brought shame, guilt, death, sickness, toil, and suffering into a world that had been perfect.

Adam’s fig leaves show man’s first attempt at self-redemption. Adam knew he needed covering, but his own effort was not accepted by God. Man’s righteousness will always fall short, because the soul that sins shall die, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. God’s word does not change, and God did not lie.

God’s promised solution begins when He seeks Adam and asks, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:15 gives the first promise of redemption: the seed of the woman will bruise the serpent’s head, while the serpent bruises His heel. God then provided a temporary covering through innocent blood, killing animals to cover Adam and Eve, pointing forward to the sacrificial system and then beyond it.

Yeshua is the final answer to that whole system. God Himself provides the perfect sinless sacrifice, born of a woman, not inheriting Adam’s sinful nature, living sinless, and dying as the second Adam. His death fulfilled the requirement of the law, and His resurrection showed that death could not hold the sinless One. The only work of God that remains is to believe in Him whom God has sent.

His father is God, not Adam. So that's a technicality, but it's a very important technicality because if he had been born the way everybody else of us has been born, he would have inherited Adam's sinful nature. And he would not He was born in sin, he couldn't be sinless. having God as his father, he was born sinless. And that's super super important.”

“It is this sacrificial system that teaches us to expect a better way and that leads us to the Messiah's ultimate sacrifice for us, to completely remove our sins, to blot them out once and for all time. So how does this work? Yeah. Sin requires the death of the sinner to pay for that sin. God, in his great love, mercy, righteousness, allows for an innocent substitutionary death or bloodshed to take the place of the one who sinned and should have died. This substitution is a temporary solution. It only covers sin. It doesn't remove sin from the sinner. God himself provides a way to break the temporary cycle of covering of sins by making the ultimate substitutionary sacrifice on our behalf in order to make it a permanent removal of sin from us. How? You ask. Thank you. This is the genius of God.”

“but we know that Yeshua, his sacrifice, once and for all on the cross, he shed his blood as the representative of the human race. So important. He's not an animal just covering. He's our representative. He was able to take our sins. He was able to represent me on the cross and took took my sin. that's when I pray in faith that his blood was sufficient, and I can enter into that that grace and salvation that God bought brought for us. That's why the prayer of faith works. It's based on the blood that was shed. No atonement, except for Messiah.”

You get your head crushed, it's done. But to crush your heel, it's not fatal. You can recover from that. Yet before this promise of redemption was to come, God provided man with a temporary and needful way of salvation, of covering man's sins so that he would have and could have fellowship with God in the interim. While we're waiting for that promised seed of a woman, the son of man, the Messiah, to come, he made a substitutionary sacrifice. Now, this is very basic. We all know that. But again, I'm laying the foundation of why this is important, why it had to be this way.”

He knew that he had broken and lost his relationship with God, and that day, and tried to redeem himself, to try to fix it himself, but he was still ashamed and had, a guilty conscience of that sense of loss and what he'd done.
