Isaiah 54 gives the call: “enlarge the place of your tent, stretch the tent curtains wide, do not hold back.” The word to the barren woman is not a word for after the children arrive, but a word for before the miracle comes. God calls faith to make space ahead of time, to lengthen cords and strengthen stakes while the promise still has to be believed.

Prayer makes that promise feel less like an idea and more like the next season of church life. The more prayer rises for people to come to know Jesus, the more expectation grows, and the less fear of what people think has any power. Every empty seat becomes a future testimony, a place where someone’s heart could melt in the presence of God and be made new.

The expected growth is not transfer growth from chaos somewhere else or disgruntled Christians looking for a better climate. The expectation is rescue out of darkness and into light, broken people mended, lost people finding Jesus. Holy discontentment pushes against the mindset that “it doesn’t happen anymore,” and asks the question of the four beggars at the gate: why sit here until death?

Genesis gives the deeper ground for that expectation. God blessed Adam and Eve and said, “Be fruitful and multiply,” and human nature still carries that call to create, order, mend, and bring home. Taking chaos and making order, taking nothing and making something, taking the broken and helping it become whole, all of that mirrors God.

Making room through Alpha, Vision Builders, buildings, prayer, and invitation becomes an act of partnership with what God is already doing. God is already softening hearts, opening eyes, and preparing conversations in ordinary places, even over coffee or at Grill’d. Like suddenly noticing Mazdas everywhere after buying one, the eyes of faith begin to see that God has already been moving.

God fills prepared spaces. The old temple was built and God filled it. The second temple was prayed over and God filled it. Acts 2 gathers the new temple in the upper room, and the Spirit fills them. The call to build before overflow is proof of faith.

Christ is the deepest reason for making room. Philippians 2 shows Jesus not grasping equality with God, but lowering himself, taking the form of a servant, and going to the cross so others could be brought into the family. Because Christ made space first, the church makes space in hearts, homes, and buildings for others to find hope, purpose, and Jesus.
