#BuiltToLast
“In a generation obsessed with now that spends billions flimsy products to meet our immediate needs that are disposable after a couple of years, like the flat screen TV that you hang on your wall until your first move, and then it's got a line down the middle and you chuck it and get a new one. Not our grandparents, though. They had TVs that were, like, bigger than a Buick, And they had ornate carved wood, and they were built to last. And the kingdom of God is built to last. And that's how Jesus builds his church. It's establishing place so that we can build for the future, prophets of a kingdom future that is not even our own.”

#CheerfulGiving
“Not under compulsion from others, but also not under compulsion from yourself. Like, you're feeling the feels and you're like, yeah. I I'm compulsively gonna do this. We need we need to make this happen. This kingdom isn't gonna build itself. We gotta get in there, people. We gotta do this thing. Not under compulsion. God loves a cheerful giver, he said. We can be cheerful about it because he makes clear. We get invited to participate in the building of his kingdom, but it does not depend on us. We've talked about that over the course of the last month.”

#SpiritLedGiving
“Right? So he's saying, you give as you settle it in your heart. Well, who lives in the hearts of the people who are called by his name? This is where the holy spirit forms Jesus. And so he's saying, you don't, like, spin the wheel and see where it lands or feel what kind of mood you're feeling this week. But in your heart, you consult with the one who sits on its throne. Holy Spirit, what would you have me give? And then how you discern him to lead and what you decide in your heart, that Paul says is what you ought to give. Not under compulsion, Not under the compulsion of another, someone arm twisting you or high pressuring you or giving you the emotional razzle dazzle to get you lathered up to give.”
