Two and a half million Israelites stood between walls of water taller than skyscrapers, dry ground beneath their sandals. This moment wasn’t just escape—it was revelation. The same God who defies physics to make water stand at attention sees your impossible circumstances. His power isn’t limited by what’s “normal.” Like the Israelites, we’re called to respond not with casual acknowledgment but holy fear—the kind that reshapes how we walk, pray, and trust. Day 2: The Hero Who Carries the Name Elohim

The Israelites finally understood: no pharaoh, plague, or army outranks the Supreme Power. When we reduce God to a helper rather than the Hero, we miss His magnificence. Your deliverance isn’t an endpoint but a pathway. The same God who parts seas prepares dwelling places—not just future heavens, but present footholds. Yet God still calls us to rehearse His wonders, not as ritual but as lifelines. Singing Moses’ song wasn’t about nostalgia; it was survival. Every time we retell His miracles, we rewire our hearts to trust the Miracle-Worker when new deserts appear. [01:01:28]

Sermon Summary

Exodus 15 puts God’s majesty right in front of Israel after the Red Sea crossing. Moses teaches this song to two and a half million people so they will not forget who brought them out of Egypt, and so their children can remember it too. The Red Sea stands there like walls of water, the ground is dry, Pharaoh’s army is destroyed, and God is plainly the hero of the story.

The name El points to the mighty one, the powerful one, the strong one. Elohim magnifies that greatness even further. God is Creator, King, Judge, Lord, Savior, and the only one who can truly deliver His people. Israel could not free itself from generations of slavery, but God could. Yahweh also protects vulnerable people who cannot protect themselves. God heard Israel’s groaning, saw their need, and acted. God’s covenant under Christ is not merely an agreement between a church and God. God calls each person into a personal covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ.

God’s commands also flow from His wisdom and care. Israel did not need a biology lesson to understand every law God gave. Israel needed to trust the God who knew what disease, danger, and destruction they could not see. God likewise calls His people away from spiritual diseases like pride, arrogance, sexual sin, and self-indulgence. God does not explain every reason for every command, but God’s character gives every reason to trust Him.

Israel forgot within three days. Solomon also praised God’s covenant love and later wandered into sin. God’s people still forget quickly. The assembly, worship, encouragement, and awe of God help keep His greatness before the heart. God calls His people to stand in awe, honor His name, and live differently because of who He is.
