“Transactional love says, I'll do this for you because you did this for me. I'll be kind to you because you're kind to me. I'll treat you well because you earn it. A copy of love doesn't wait for the other person to do good first. It doesn't depend on whether I think the other person is worthy of love. It doesn't even require that the other person love me back. Agape love doesn't begin with the question, are you worthy of my love? Agape love asks, what does the love of Christ require me to do in this situation? What does the love of Christ, how does the love of Christ require me to respond to this person? That's why Paul says, love does no wrong to others.”

“Oh, beloved, here's the point. We as Christians are called to forgive because Jesus has forgiven And the god kind of forgiveness is not this fake phony stuff they show on TV. God kind of forgiveness is hard. It doesn't deny what happened. It just says, I refuse to let you have any control over me by staying tethered to you because of this thing you've done to me. And it says, I will trust that God will take care of me. He will pay you back, and he'll pay me back.”

“It is a tragedy if all you think the Christian walk is is to come to church and then to do your own thing. No. Christ is to infuse our whole life. He is not elf on the shelf. He wants to walk with you through every aspect of life. I I've learned that with the Mitchells, with going through the hardest times of my life. Jesus has an answer for when we're depressed, when we're lonely, when we're hungry. Jesus has a way. That is the good news, and if you take nothing away from this sermon today, hear that.”
