#ObedienceThroughChrist
“``The blood of Jesus buys our obedience to him. Our obedience transforms our hearts into his. Hearts that love and care for others, period, with impartiality and unconditionally. We can be partial to sports teams. Go Duke. We can be partial to genres of movies, food we eat, how we dress, sweet tea or unsweet tea. Gross, neither. But we cannot be partial to people. Not if we claim to love Jesus Christ. It don't work.”

#FourImperatives
“I said there were four imperatives for us in this text today. The first one, we are commanded to hope that Jesus is coming back and that God is making all of this new and all of this better to be reconciled to what is right when Jesus returns. Number two is to be holy because God is holy, to be set apart for a purpose. Number three, to live in fear, in reverent fear of God. And number four, to love the unselfish care of others. Without question, without pause, without wondering who they voted for about their immigration status or if their gender or sexual identity. It's not a suggestion, it's an imperative. An imperative means it cannot be avoided.”

#ChristologyShapesSalvation
“Our soteriology is based in our Christology. Our salvation is grounded in a Christological vision. Salvation leads to sanctification. That's a 2 and a $2.50 seminary word. Salvation leads to sanctification, our being shaped into persons who bear an obedient love to one another. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ opens within us a trust of God, an obedience to the truth of God, and a love for one another. Love is not a work that turns God to us. It is a fruit of our turning to God in response to God's love in Christ.”

#SalvationToSanctification
“Salvation leads to sanctification. It is a fruit of our turning to God in response to God's love in Christ. Christ buys for this price, a reformation, a reformation of our wills, a change of our hearts, a change of our hearts into genuine mutual affection.”
