#TrustAndSleep
“``But after reading and studying the Psalm, I'm convinced that the Lord is uniquely glorified when we trust Him enough to go to bed. And to cry out to him in our distress and then just go to sleep, like knowing full well that the Lord has heard you and that he will work even when you are unconscious. For however many hours of the day. Like my children, when we would drive home late at night from somewhere into our house or back to our house or whatnot, it would be such a sweet thing, assurance as a dad, like my kids would trust me enough to fall asleep in the car. Like, it sounds weird,”

#SalvationIsTheLords
“``I have been restless lately because I, at my core, have been believing that salvation belongs to Sean. And that's not what the Bible says. I've been working to earn or prove myself worthy of this salvation that the Lord gives as if it depended on me. That's not what the scripture said. Salvation belongs to who? The Lord. Blessing be on your people. Salvation belongs to the Lord. Rest in the fact that salvation belongs to him. The Lord saves. The Lord saves. Will you pray with me?”

#HonestFaithReality
“``which signifies an alternative truth from what previous statement. He doesn't lie to himself about a situation. He doesn't downplay his situation. He doesn't just think more positive about it. He doesn't go fight to it. He admits that these things are true. Yes, my foes are many. Yes. Many are rising against me. Yes. Many are saying that I am unsavable. you, oh Lord, are a shield about me, my glory and the lifter of my head. Yes, this is my situation, but this is who you are.”

#FearlessBecauseGodSaves
“``David says to himself, I will no longer fear. I will no longer revere the multitude of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. And for my civil engineers in the audience here, all around is the first term that comes out as a roundabout. They're all around. It's a complete circle. All his enemies, many thousands of people literally are surrounding him. He says, because the Lord saves, because the Lord is David's shield, his glory and the lifter of his head, his answer and his sustainer David is able to sleep and he will no longer be afraid. What is there to fear if the Lord is truly these things?”

#LifterOfOurHeads
“``He's also the lifter of my head. You get the picture that anyone who's who's head is bowed is somebody who's laden with guilt. Like, you're ashamed, you kind of walk with your head down. Right? Whether you mean to or not, you're ashamed. Your head goes down. You're you're guilty. You're burdened. You're defeated. He takes the shame away. He removes your defeats and he lifts you back up. That is who he is for David. And David says, I cried aloud to the Lord and he answered me from his holy hill.”

#TruthButGodDefends
“``And through the monitor, wherever she was, she was able to hear me and she came. You get that picture here. David couldn't move, but the Lord heard from where he was. So that's the alternative truth. Yes. It is true that my foes are many. Yes. It is true that there are a lot of people saying that you will never save me. That's one truth. That's reality. But then there's the but statement. But what is really true is that you are my defense.”

#TrustEnoughToSleep
“``So first of all, we look at his physical response. Even though the circumstances of David's life are indeed dire, like he the man was being pursued by all Israel is what the scriptures say. And he's under constant and serious threat. David remembers that the Lord is a shield about him, his glory and the lifter of his head, and him who answered him. And because of that, David goes to sleep. He's able to lay down. He's able to fall asleep, to fall unconscious. You're defenseless when you're asleep.”

#SalvationIsGodsWork
“``Meaning that salvation itself, meaning the deliverance, the help, the rescue is solely and only the work of the Lord. It is his responsibility to carry out or to execute safety. And he will do so perfectly. And when he does, there is nothing but blessing upon blessing upon blessing upon blessing for the people of God. The Hebrew word for the people means a tribe, a nation, and really just a distinct group of people. Specifically in this text, it means that we're distinct people who belong to the Lord. The Lord saves.”
