64s
“First century locks don't require someone to drop the pins. There is no villain that's standing over the housing pushing them down. The bolt slides home, the whole lines up, and gravity or sin does the rest. The pins fall, binding the bolt on earth as it is in heaven. And once that bolt is in place, binding ceases to be an ongoing action. The binding is what happens when no one does anything at all. Loosing is the only motion that requires the key. So the question that we should be asking is not whom have we kept out. The better question is, have we locked ourselves in? And if so, where is the key?”
43s
“The way it opens that bunker door is Christ comes into the secured place. Christ comes in and stands here among us with us and takes the wooden key that we put on the shelf and and puts it on our shoulders and walks us out. You remember the story after the resurrection when the disciples were all up in the upper room behind a door that they had locked out of fear, and Jesus appeared to them in John coming into the room while the door was still locked to announce the good news.”
64s
“Some of you that are in here have already been outside. I know who you are. I've heard your stories. life was unbound some time ago. The diagnosis, the child you cannot reach, the love that was not returned, the addiction you couldn't outrun, the self doubt that creeps in and settles for too long. You are not bound because you're here with us. You have been loosed, you're out there in the weather without a roof wondering when the rest of us are coming to join you. Thank you for being here with us today. You are not behind. You are ahead.”
