Growth demands fresh nourishment, not yesterday’s leftovers. Just as crops need new rain to thrive, spiritual growth requires daily engagement with God’s living Word. Stagnation creeps in when we rely on past revelations or emotional highs instead of seeking fresh manna. The Bible compares spiritual immaturity to infants craving milk, but maturity comes through the "unadulterated" truth that challenges and transforms. God’s Word is not a relic but a current invitation to deeper surrender. Without it, faith becomes malnourished, unable to withstand life’s droughts. [01:33:37]

The local church stands as a place of growth because God accepts people where they are, but He refuses to leave them where they are. Growth is the normal process of life, and growth leads somewhere called maturity. The room for growth remains the largest room in the world because nobody ever gets too full to keep growing in God.

Growth in God means agreeing with God. Spiritual growth cannot happen while somebody keeps disagreeing with God, refusing change, refusing commitment, or occupying the same place of refusal. Change brings accountability, discipline, sacrifice, and sometimes growth pains, but God uses that process to move His people into new territory.

Moses shows what that journey looks like. Moses had something in him, but Egypt still had too much in him, so God took him through a process of replacing Egypt’s mentality with the things of God. Moses could not return to Pharaoh as the same man who ran from Egypt. God changed him, grew him, and then sent him back with authority to say, “Let my people go.”

Second Peter 3:18 gives the command plainly: “Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” The Word of God produces the new birth, and the Word of God also nourishes continued growth. Spiritual growth does not rest on entertainment, emotional highs, or something that tickles ears. Spiritual growth comes through understanding and applying the Word like slow soaking rain that gets down in the heart and stays there.

The pure milk of the Word becomes necessary because every born again believer begins as a baby. Babies cannot discern everything they put in their mouths, and spiritual babies need pure, unadulterated nourishment rather than powdered milk that looks close but lacks the density of the real thing. The Word calls believers to crave, thirst for, and earnestly desire what will actually make them grow.

Growth also guards against carnality. Carnality allows flesh, emotions, feelings, and sense reasoning without the Holy Spirit to lead what God intended the Spirit to lead. The spirit and soul must agree so the body can come in line. The part that gets fed wins, so a malnourished spirit will lose ground to a well-fed flesh. The local church therefore becomes a place where the bride of Christ learns the Word, prayer, meditation, worship, and praise as a full course meal for spiritual strength.
