1. "So if you're a person of truth, you will hear the voice of God, and we're living in a time that's really tough to tell whether something is fact or fiction. It's really hard to distinguish between truth and a lie, right and wrong. There are many shades of gray, apparently. And more than 50, apparently, and there's a lot of things going on, but we don't have the standard of truth by which we can judge what's real and what's not, what we should believe in and what is false."

2. "Jesus tells the truth about her, tells the truth about her life, tells the truth about where she's been, and he tells the truth of what he can offer her. He knows Jesus knows that she needs eternal life. Jesus knows that she needs a new life. And in John chapter four and verse four through verse 42, I'm not going to read those verses. I wish I could. I can tell you that this story takes place. And I want to draw a few illustrations from this story that I think could apply to all of us here."

3. "The Bible specifically said that Jesus had to go through Samaria because I believe Jesus wanted to meet this woman at the crossroads. Jesus had an appointment with this woman that she wasn't aware of because he wanted to offer her eternal life. And the Bible says that he meets her there at noontime. It is in the heat of the day. The Bible describes Jesus as being tired. He sits down by the well as his disciples go into the village and get lunch."

4. "All she thinks about is that when Jesus talks about giving her a living water, she's thinking it's physical water. But how many know Jesus is talking about a deeper spiritual level in your life that he meets the deepest needs with the living water. And so she's still thinking that it's water and she tells him, how can you give me some water? You don't even have a bucket. He's the son of God. He don't need a bucket anyway. And he said, listen, if you drink the water that I give you, you'll never thirst again."

5. "Jesus knows she's got some issues. Not to leave it, it would say, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Let's get down to the nitty gritty. We're going to talk to you right now about what's happening in your life right now. So Jesus says, you know what? We're talking. Why don't you just go call your husband? You know, call him and we'll come back. And she has this checkered past. She has a lot of stains in her past. And she says, you know, I don't have a husband. And Jesus says, you've spoken the truth. You've had five husbands. And the man you're living with right now is not your husband."

6. "Jesus is left alone there. And this Samaritan woman shows up and he asked her this question. Would you give me something to drink? Now, she is entirely shocked because he's a Jewish man and he's a Samaritan. They never talked to each other. So she's shocked that this man would even be talking to her. In fact, if you were a rabbi and you were a religious teacher, you would never talk to a woman in public. And not only that, he's Jewish. So she's kind of shocked."

7. "Jesus said, you know what, I've got living water for you. Look at what it says here in John chapter 4 verse 10. If you knew who I was, or if you knew who I was, you would have asked me and I would have given you living water. Verse 14 says, whoever drinks the water that I shall give him will never thirst again. But the water I give shall become inside a well of water springing up to eternal life. So Jesus is saying, I can satisfy your empty soul. I'm the one that will give you spiritual water. Because we're all thirsty for something."

8. "We cannot hide our past from God. No matter what you've done. No matter what mistakes you've made. God knows all about them. Have you ever tried to hide something from God? Have you ever tried to smuggle something across the border? Don't raise your hand. Let me give you a few pictures of people that try to smuggle drugs. In the airport. Here's this woman. She's got these big hair braids here. And all these extensions. Then when they thought it was a little suspicious. Because their hair was a little big."

9. "Jesus is the only one that can satisfy my deepest needs. Really, only Jesus can. Jesus said, you know what, I've got living water for you. Look at what it says here in John chapter 4 verse 10. If you knew who I was, or if you knew who I was, you would have asked me and I would have given you living water. Verse 14 says, whoever drinks the water that I shall give him will never thirst again. But the water I give shall become inside a well of water springing up to eternal life."

10. "Jesus was trying to get her to realize, I know what's happening in your life. I know what's going on in your life. I want you to see it just like I see it. And even though you're messed up and even though you have all these things, I'm still a God that can forgive you. I'm still a God that can redeem you. How many can say amen? And Jesus said, I come to give you this living water. I come to give you this living water that can wash you. Because every saint, listen to me, every saint has the past, but every sinner has the future."
