#BubblingBrookOfGod
“``But there is one bubbling brook among all the foul and polluted ponds, One place where we can always find living water that leads not to disappointment and failure, but to life, to peace, to security. It's the one place where the waters run clean and bring strength and nourishment. that place, dear friends, is with the spirit of God, who brings to us in fullest flowing measure all the unconditional love and commitment of God himself for sinful humanity. There we find the wounds of God's own son, whose blood cleanses us and who makes us whole.”

“The fact is these other voices, except for the voice of Jesus, they are all stagnant waters. And when we see them as they really are, they don't bring life or nourishment or strength, but instead they are bitter waters of dissatisfaction and destruction. They don't feed our spirit. They feed on it. And like parasites, they drain and exhaust us until we're weak and fatigued. And we've all heard stories about those to whom that's happened. I think of movie and music celebrities who have all the money they could ever want but ruined lives. I think of sports figures who bask in the glory of fame, but whose marriage relationships and families are broken.”

#DrinkLivingWater
“Through the spirit, we learn of Jesus' willingness to suffer the punishment and pain we deserve so that we might be forgiven and restored and strengthened to face ongoing and everyday challenges in our lives. Living in Christ and through his spirit, we find his life bubbling up within us. And we receive love and joy and peace and patience and all the other rich qualities, the fruit of the spirit that we just can't find and won't produce on our own. So drink up. Drink For this water is not only safe, but it brings with us everything that we need to bring us eternal life, eternal joy. Let's not get so enthralled with those tempting and still waters that we miss the bubbling brook of life.”

#LivingWaterFlows
“Now in our text for this morning, our lord Jesus talks about water. Water which brings with it and supports life. Water which strengthens and nourishes and invigorates. Living water, he calls it. Living water which fills up the soul and produces love and joy and peace to those who drink it. Living water which flows from within and knows no end. The water which Jesus speaks of is the bubbling brook of God's spirit. The spirit who comes to us in God's word and sacrament, loaded up with all kinds of blessings and benefits for of Jesus' own death and resurrection.”
