Even when life feels uncertain or you feel lost, God’s promise is that He has a plan for you—a plan that is good, filled with hope, and crafted with intention. The Israelites received this promise while they were in exile, far from home and feeling abandoned, yet God assured them that their situation did not define them or their future. In the same way, your circumstances do not determine your worth or your destiny; God’s plans for you remain steadfast, and He calls you to live with purpose right where you are, trusting that He is working for your good even in the midst of difficulty. [40:58]
Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you feel uncertain or discouraged, and how can you trust God’s promise that He has a good plan for you even in this season?
You are not an accident or a random occurrence; God formed you with care, precision, and love, knowing every detail of your life before you were born. He set you apart for a purpose, and His thoughts about you are precious and innumerable. No matter what others say or how you may feel about yourself, your true identity is defined by the One who created you—loved, chosen, and made on purpose. Let this truth sink in: you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God delights in you. [44:24]
Psalm 139:13-18 (ESV)
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.”
Reflection: What is one way you can remind yourself today that your identity is defined by God’s love and purpose for you, rather than by the opinions or expectations of others?
God calls you to trust Him with all your heart and to seek His will above your own understanding. True purpose is not found in following your own desires or the world’s advice, but in surrendering your life to God and allowing Him to guide your steps. As you trust Him and seek His direction, He promises to lead you on the right path. Purpose starts with letting go of self-reliance and embracing God’s wisdom and guidance in every area of your life. [45:07]
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are relying on your own understanding, and how can you intentionally surrender it to God’s direction today?
God’s purpose for you is not just about what you do, but about who you become. He invites you to offer your whole self to Him, to be transformed by His love, and to live in a way that is distinct from the world. This transformation happens as you allow God to change the way you think and act, choosing to worship Him not just with words, but with your entire life. As you surrender your desires and let God shape you, you discover His good, pleasing, and perfect will for your life. [45:58]
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Reflection: What is one habit or pattern in your life that God may be inviting you to surrender so He can transform you more into His likeness?
Your life is meant to make a difference beyond yourself; God calls you to share the good news of Jesus and to make disciples wherever you go. Whether it’s at school, work, home, or even in unexpected places, you are a missionary with a calling to lead others to Him. Your purpose is not just personal fulfillment, but kingdom impact—helping others know God, experience His love, and discover their own purpose in Him. [46:28]
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
Reflection: Who is one person in your life you can intentionally encourage or share God’s love with this week, and what step can you take to do that?
This morning, we gathered as a church family to reflect on the incredible work God has done through our summer at Camp White Branch and to consider the deeper truth of our purpose in Him. We began with an object lesson for the kids, using water, food coloring, and bleach to illustrate how sin stains our lives, separating us from God, but how Jesus alone can cleanse us and restore us to relationship with Him. This simple but powerful demonstration reminded us all—young and old—that we are in need of a Savior, and that when we invite Jesus into our hearts, He makes us new and gives us access to God’s presence.
As we celebrated the impact of camp, I shared stories of the 46 kids and 12 counselors who participated, many of whom encountered God in new and life-changing ways. Some met Jesus for the first time, others wrestled honestly with faith, and several are now preparing for baptism. The sacrificial love and service of our counselors, kitchen crew, and nurse made these encounters possible, and the church’s generosity—both in prayer and finances—opened the door for so many to experience God’s love in a focused, distraction-free environment.
The heart of our time together centered on the theme of “On Purpose,” drawn from Jeremiah 29:11. In a world that tells us to define ourselves however we wish, we looked at God’s promise to His people in exile: that He has a plan, even in seasons of brokenness and uncertainty. We explored the context of Jeremiah’s words, seeing that God’s call was not just to survive hardship, but to live with purpose and faithfulness right where they were. This promise is echoed throughout Scripture—Psalm 139, Jeremiah 1, Proverbs 3, Romans 12, Ephesians 5, and Matthew 28—all affirming that we are created intentionally, for relationship with God, for transformation, for wisdom, and for sharing the gospel.
Ultimately, our identity and purpose are not defined by our circumstances, our achievements, or the opinions of others, but by the God who made us. We are loved, chosen, and crafted on purpose. Our calling is to know God, delight in Him, and make Him known to others. As we go into the week ahead, may we remember that our lives have meaning because we are made by a loving Father, for His good purposes.

This wasn't a vague, generic promise. It was deeply personal. God had not forgotten them. He had a plan. He was working to bring it to fruition, and they had a part to play in this plan. Their part was really simple, just to live their lives in simple obedience to him. Not just to survive, but to thrive. He said build houses, plant gardens, get married, have kids, multiply, pray for the city, seek its peace. In other words, don't wait for life to get better before you live with purpose. Now, if it were me, I'd want to complain. I'd want to escape. But God says be faithful where you are. I'm still with you, even here. Their brokenness doesn't mean abandonment. Exile does not mean exile from God, ever. [00:41:07] (49 seconds) #FaithfulLivingInExile
You were not an accident. You weren't random. You were crafted on purpose with care, precision, and love by the hands of your creator. And God didn't just create you for existence. You were created for a purpose. [00:44:13] (17 seconds) #CreatedWithPurpose
Purpose starts with trust, not self -reliance. The world says, follow your heart. God says, follow me. Our purpose is to seek his will and to follow it. [00:44:52] (16 seconds) #TrustInGodsPurpose
We’re called to be different, to allow God to transform how we think, live, and love. Our purpose is to sacrifice our sinful nature and desires and allow him to create something of our lives that is good. [00:45:51] (17 seconds) #TransformedByGod
We don't drift into purpose. We walk into it, on purpose, with intentional choices that align with God's will. Our purpose is to show the world the difference between them and God. To model in our very lives and the choices we make that for one to reject God from their lives is to be a fool, but to follow him is to be wise. [00:46:28] (24 seconds) #PurposefulLiving
Jesus made our mission clear. Go. Make disciples. Teach them. Your purpose isn't just about personal fulfillment. It's about kingdom impact. Wherever God has placed you, your school, your workplace, your family, randomly in the middle of the grocery store talking to a person, you are a missionary with a calling to lead others to him. And your purpose is to spread the gospel. [00:47:24] (27 seconds) #KingdomMission
``Other people don't get to define me. Life is difficult, but God knows what he's doing. Let those words sink in. People do not get to define you. Your current situation does not get to define you. Only God, the one who created you, painstakingly, carefully crafted you together, only God gets to define you. And his definition of you is loved, chosen, created on purpose.
