The Ten Commandments are not a ladder for unsaved people to kind of try and work their way up to heaven. From the beginning, the law of God was a pattern of life that was given by God to people he had already made his own. [00:07:09]

The Ten Commandments are not simply an arbitrary list of rules; they are a direct reflection of the glorious character of our wonderful God. In the New Testament, some of you will know this verse, Romans chapter 3 and verse 23: all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. [00:09:51]

The Commandments of God are a direct reflection of the glory of God or of the character of God. In other words, what God is saying to his own redeemed people is, "Look, I've made you my own. You bear my name in the world, and therefore what I'm calling you to as my redeemed people is that you will live a life that is a reflection of what I'm like." [00:10:59]

The law of God is a mirror that reflects for us the glory of God. Now, it's very important to realize that the Ten Commandments are not simply an arbitrary list of rules; they are a direct reflection of the glorious character of our wonderful God. [00:09:51]

The Ten Commandments lay out for us how God calls his own people to live, and that is why the Ten Commandments speak directly to each and every one of us today. [00:08:07]

The law of God and particularly The Ten Commandments here, they're a mentor leading us to faith in Jesus Christ. A mirror and then a mentor, a mentor leading us to faith in Jesus Christ. [00:18:31]

A proper understanding of the Ten Commandments will lead you to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you will look at your life honestly in the light of these Commandments, it will not be long before you come to the conclusion that you are a long way from the life to which God calls you. [00:19:57]

The Ten Commandments wonderfully give us a map for the Spirit-empowered life. In other words, they describe for us the life for which the Holy Spirit of God is given to us. [00:29:55]

The Ten Commandments are a mirror that reflects the glory of God. God is love, and he calls us as his redeemed people to a life that reflects who he is, and what that life looks like is spelled out in the Ten Commandments. [00:17:38]

The Ten Commandments are not dealt with under misery; they're dealt with under gratitude, and that's the right perspective for a Christian believer. Here is the life to which, as a redeemed son or daughter of God, we're being called and into which we're being led, and for which we're empowered by the Holy Spirit. [00:34:15]

In this life, even the holiest have only a small beginning of obedience. Nevertheless, they do begin to live according to all, not only some, of God's Commandments. [00:35:19]

A new life is possible for those who are in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. [00:33:30]
