Sermon Summary

"Walking in the spirit is a central concept for every believer. It signifies our alignment with the Holy Spirit and walking with him and listening to him in our daily walk and not following after the flesh. But I think we miss that sometimes, and we use this term, and I thought, well, maybe the term needs expanded on. Maybe we need to know what it means to walk in the spirit because we sometimes take those terms that we use for granted that everybody knows and understands what that means and how to do it." [00:01:18]

"The holy spirit is not a luxury for Christians; he is a necessity for Christians. A lot of times, we think if we have the spirit, it's a luxury, but no, it's a necessity. We have to have the spirit to fight against the Ws of the devil. We have to have the spirit of God in order that we might fight against the evil that's in this world, to resist temptation." [00:03:36]

"To walk in the spirit, first of all, be mindful of the spirit. Second of all, know that we have a choice to obey the spirit. Thirdly, we have to find a heart that we can hear the spirit. The scripture teaches us that we can grieve the spirit, the scriptures teach us that we can hinder the spirit, the scriptures teach us that we can limit the Holy One of Israel with our bad decisions or wrong decisions." [00:05:42]

"The Holy Spirit works in conjunction with the word of God. He will never tell you anything that is contrary to the word of God. This is kind of how we discern what the voice is, if it's the right voice that we're listening to, because we all know there's a lot of voices in this world. There's an enemy out there that has a voice, and he wants to guide you, and he wants to lead you, and he wants to influence you." [00:09:30]

"Wait upon the Lord. It says they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, and it says they'll soar like eagles. It tells us in one place, well, eagles, you don't see them laboring in the wind. You know, wind is their friend. We get the opposition of wind in our life, and we labor in that, we fight against it, but you'll never see that in an eagle." [00:10:43]

"Remove thy foot from Evil. There's a call there to hear the Holy Spirit clearly. We have to be in a state of repentance all the time. See, how do you walk in a state of repentance all the time? Well, when the Holy Spirit says no, no, no, no, no, not this, and you turn and walk away, turn your eyes above, think on things above." [00:14:54]

"Walking in the spirit is not a one-time decision. It's a moment-by-moment choice to live according to God's will. It's a moment-by-moment choice. We have to choose over and over and over again every day to choose God. Ephesians 5:18 says, and be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Holy Spirit." [00:31:54]

"Walking in the spirit and I'll close with this, it leads to a life that produces fruit. If you want to produce food fruit, give yourself to the spirit of God. Let's all bow our heads, folks, if you want to come to the altar this morning." [00:40:07]

"The fruit of the spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—are the results of walking in the Spirit. These are not just attributes to aspire to but are gifts that manifest in our lives as we submit to the Spirit's leading." [00:37:09]

"God talks to his children. God loves his children. The Holy Spirit was sent to guide us, to comfort us. It has a work to accomplish in us, so don't ever think that the voice has left you as a child of God. It is there, it is there, and sometimes it's very difficult to find it because we got in the rut and we can't get out." [00:21:42]

"Jesus said, John 16, nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you, but if I depart, I will send him unto you. These are powerful words. Jesus, before he left, he said to his disciples, he said it's necessary." [00:35:47]

"God will give you the desires of your heart. Now, if you're spiritually minded, you hear that verse in one manner. God will give you the desires of your heart. Well, the desires of my heart says I need about a 22t bass boat, I need a new four-wheeler, I need a larger house. I've always loved a Denali." [00:26:00]
