Day 1: Persevering in Faith Amid Trials and End Times

Jesus teaches that while the world will face wars, disasters, and persecutions, his followers are called to stand firm and not be overcome by fear. He assures us that even in the midst of turmoil, he is with us, giving us wisdom and strength to testify to our faith. Our security is not found in worldly stability, but in our relationship with Christ, who promises that not a hair on our head will be destroyed. By persevering in faith and surrendering ourselves to God, we secure our lives for eternity, no matter what challenges arise. [16:48]

Luke 21:5-19 (ESV)
And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, “As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” And they asked him, “Teacher, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?” And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.” Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. This will be your opportunity to bear witness. Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death. You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.”

Day 2: Living with Eternity in Mind

Everything in this world is temporary, including our own lives, and we are reminded not to take this for granted. By focusing on our eternal future with God, we are encouraged to live faithfully in the present—showing kindness, serving others, loving deeply, and offering forgiveness. These are the true measures of a life surrendered to God, far more lasting than material achievements or comforts. Let your daily actions reflect your hope in eternity and your desire to be an instrument of God’s presence in the world. [24:16]

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (ESV)
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Day 3: Faithfulness as Our Lasting Legacy

At the end of our lives, what will matter most is not our possessions, titles, or achievements, but the faithfulness we have shown to God and the love we have shared with others. We are called to persevere in living out our faith, following the example of the saints who have gone before us. Let your legacy be one of service, love, and steadfast faith, so that you are remembered for how you lived for God and others, not for what you acquired. [26:12]

Hebrews 12:1-2 (ESV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Day 4: Finding Peace in Christ, Not in the World

True peace does not come from material comforts or worldly security, but from a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. When we root our hearts in him, we find courage and hope even in the face of uncertainty and suffering. Jesus assures us that he will never abandon us, and his peace surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds no matter what we face. [23:03]

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Reflection: Where are you seeking peace apart from Christ? How can you intentionally turn to him today for the peace that only he can give?

Day 5: Surrendering to God and Being Instruments of His Presence

We are invited to totally surrender ourselves to God, trusting that he will care for us and use us as instruments of his love and mercy. This surrender is shown in our daily acts of kindness, service, and forgiveness, which are the true manifestations of faith. By letting go of self-reliance and focusing on God’s will, we become channels of his presence in our families, communities, and the world. [24:16]

Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

As we gather in the presence of the Lord, we are reminded of the sacred rhythm of our lives as Christians, shaped not only by the calendar of the world but by the liturgical calendar of the Church. “Well brothers and sisters some of you might already know this but in the catholic church we follow two calendars you know the gregorian calendar which we daily use in the western world you know monday to sunday january to december but in the catholic church we also follow the liturgical calendar now the liturgical calendar is something that not all catholics are familiar with it is the church's annual schedules for celebrating the life and mystery of jesus christ through a cycle of seasons feasts and readings so we have different seasons in the liturgical year you know advent christmas lent easter and ordinary times and also we have those three days we call the easter treatum monday thursday good friday and holy saturday.”

“Now each of those seasons has its own designated liturgical color like right now we are in the ordinary times so i'm wearing green and it has its own prayers and it has its own scripture readings so this is the liturgical calendar that we follow every year now the the current liturgical calendar is about to end you know next sunday we will celebrate the last sunday in ordinary time with the celebration of the solemnity of our lord jesus christ king of the universe and the sunday after that the first sunday of advent is a new year a new liturgical year in the church calendar.”

“So maybe you've noticed this before but every time we are drawing closer to the end of the liturgical year the scripture readings tend to talk about the end times the end of the world you know calling us to be aware that the time will come when the world as we know it will end and also it reminds us of of how to live our lives as christians in the present so living our lives as christians with the future in mind.”

“So this sunday and in the next few in the next few days the scripture readings will tend to be unsettling you know they will speak about the coming destruction sufferings persecutions in our gospel for today for example jesus was not just speaking about the destruction of the temple which by the way happened you know 40 years after jesus christ spoke those words in the year 70 ad the romans came and destroyed the temple.”

“He spoke about wars earthquakes plagues and persecutions as signs of the beginning of the end times jesus christ said that these things will happen first before the end of the world comes now you know looking around us and hearing the news all over the world we cannot help but be filled with anxiety and sometimes fear because these signs that jesus christ spoke of are already happening wars earthquakes famines and then brothers and sisters the lord assured us that he is always with us.”
