#StewardshipMatters
“``When we look at this parable, this passage, it is not about the perceived success of the one with five and the one with two. It is about their stewardship. It is not about the fact that they doubled what was given to them. It is about their stewardship. Every single one of us are stewards. We are not owners. And when we recognize we are not owners, we will stop fighting for control and start having confidence in what God has given us.”

#ChristOverControl
“``We've gotta remember his work because the reality is the peace and security that any of this world offers will only leave you more thirsty. will only leave us to desire more control. The confidence that we can have with Christ, it's not control. We don't get to control our lives. When we have accepted Christ, we have said, God, my life is yours and you can do what you want with it. The peace and security that Christ offers far surpasses anything that this world could offer. And we can sit in this room as a church, myself included, and we can nod our heads in agreement.”

#ShieldFormation
“``So when they put it on, it was not just about them, that individual, that person. It was about the whole. And there's this formation in the Roman military called the testudo, which means in Greek, turtle or tortoise, and it's what would take place when they would bring up their shields and they would create a specific formation that would cover not just their heads, but their front and their sides and their backs so that when the enemy was trying to penetrate them, the enemy could not.”

#ArmorTogether
“``The breastplate that you put on and the breastplate that I put on, the helmet that each of us need to wear, it's not just for you. It's for us. We're supposed to be doing this together. We're not intended to do this Christian life alone. This letter was not written to a specific person, although we can read it and apply it to our lives. It was written to a church. We're in this together When the funerals come and the celebrations come, we're living life together. So I'd ask you when it comes to living in Christ centered community, who have you surrounded yourself with every day? Who do you call when something happens unexpected? Who do you call? And more importantly, when you call, who answers?”

#StewardThePeople
“``And it's not your job to determine the outcome. It's to it's to steward the opportunity each of us are given every single day to steward the people around us. Because when Paul is writing about the day of the Lord, this judgment day, there are going to be two groups. There is gonna be a group that believes in Jesus, and that day of judgment, that day of the Lord is going to look a lot different than someone who doesn't believe in Christ. We should be compelled to get up from our seat and go and do something to not just steward our children, to not just steward our spouse, our grandkids, but to steward people around us at work, in our neighborhood, we should be compelled to do it because of the love of Christ. And when I think about to that think about that seven year old, I wonder why I don't act the same today.”

#RadicalJoy
“``When someone looks at my life and someone looks at your life, is there a joy and an attitude that is different than this world? When we're living in the midst of grief and brokenness and darkness, do our lives shine so bright but someone can't help but come up and ask, what's different about you? What's different?”

#IntentionalConviction
“``If we are going to live with conviction, then we must be intentional daily. If we are going to live with conviction different than this world, then we're going to have to be intentional daily. Because the reality is there are sometimes where we as believers, we're supposed to be awake, but we kinda look like we're asleep. We're supposed to live in the dark. We're supposed to live in the light, but it's so easy to live in the dark. It's so easy to straddle the line and justify. If we're gonna be intentional daily, you need to look, and I need to look at our schedules.”
33s
#WalkWithChristDaily
“``If we're gonna be intentional daily, when we wake up in the morning, are we so busy and jam packed in our schedules that we can't even focus on Christ because we've gotta get to the next thing? Or are we living with Christ? Spending the entire day with Christ. I thought about saying carving out time with Christ, but I don't want us to have to carve out time with Christ. I want us to get up in the morning and be excited to walk through this day with him.”
