To be blessed by God is not simply to receive His favor for our own enjoyment, but to become a channel through which His grace and goodness flow to others. True blessing is not measured by material abundance, but by the nearness of God’s presence and the daily experience of His grace. When we open our hands and hearts to receive from Him, we are also called to let that blessing move outward, touching lives and drawing others closer to Him. This is the heart of Psalm 67: God’s people are blessed so that His ways and salvation may be known among all nations, and so that all people might praise Him. [07:44]
Psalm 67:1-4 (ESV)
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
Reflection: In what specific way can you let God’s blessing in your life flow outward to someone else this week, so that they might experience His goodness through you?
We often cling tightly to what we have—our time, resources, relationships—fearing that if we let go, we will lose out. Yet God invites us to open our hands, not so He can take from us, but so He can fill us with even greater blessings and use us to bless others. Like a child reluctant to release a treasured marker, we may resist, but God’s generosity is always greater than our own. When we trust Him enough to release control, we discover that He is eager to provide, to multiply, and to use us as conduits of His grace in the world. [03:41]
Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV)
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Reflection: What is one area of your life you are holding onto tightly, and how can you practice opening your hand to God in trust today?
God’s blessings are meant to flow through us, not stop with us. Just as the Sea of Galilee teems with life because water flows in and out, our lives become vibrant and fruitful when we allow God’s goodness to move through us to others. When we hoard blessings, we become stagnant like the Dead Sea, but when we share freely—our time, talents, and resources—we participate in God’s life-giving work. Every gift, opportunity, and experience is entrusted to us so that others may come to know Him and find life in Christ. [09:43]
Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV)
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Reflection: Who is someone in your life that you can intentionally bless this week, allowing God’s goodness to flow through you to them?
A life defined by generosity is one that sows freely—time, resources, encouragement—trusting that God will bring about a harvest of goodness. We do not give out of obligation or scarcity, but because God first gave to us. As we sow seeds of presence, encouragement, and tangible gifts, God uses our generosity to bring hope, healing, and joy to others. The impact of our giving is not just in meeting needs, but in growing a community where God’s love is visible and His kingdom is expanded on earth. [14:47]
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV)
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
Reflection: What is one “seed” of generosity—presence, encouragement, or a tangible gift—you can intentionally sow this week to reflect God’s goodness?
When we live generously, meeting needs and loving others, those around us see a glimpse of God’s heart. Our acts of service and giving are not just practical help—they are visible expressions of God’s love that lead others to praise Him. As we overflow with kindness and compassion, people on the outside witness what it means to belong to Christ, and many are drawn to worship and thank God because of what they see in us. Our generosity becomes a testimony that makes God known in real and tangible ways. [17:35]
Philippians 2:14-16 (ESV)
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
Reflection: How can you shine as a light in your community this week, so that others might see God’s love and be moved to praise Him?
The journey of generosity begins with recognizing that everything we have—our time, resources, relationships, and even our very lives—are gifts from God. These blessings are not given for us to hoard or cling to, but to be shared freely, reflecting the heart of our generous God. Like a child who clings tightly to a marker, we often hold onto our blessings out of fear or a sense of ownership, forgetting that God’s intention is not to take from us, but to give even more as we open our hands. God’s blessings are not just about material abundance, but about His grace, favor, and nearness, which transform us from the inside out.
Psalm 67 paints a vivid picture of this truth. The psalmist prays for God’s grace and blessing, not as an end in itself, but so that God’s ways and salvation might be known among all nations. The blessing is always meant to flow outward, turning us from buckets that collect to channels that distribute. Just as the Sea of Galilee teems with life because it both receives and gives, so too are we called to let God’s goodness flow through us, bringing life to others.
Yet, it’s easy to separate the blessing from its purpose. We may fall into the trap of thinking we’ve earned what we have, or that we’ll be generous “when the time is right.” But the call is to live open-handedly now, trusting that God, who did not withhold even His own Son, will continue to provide. Our generosity—whether in time, encouragement, or tangible gifts—becomes the means by which God’s goodness is made visible in the world. Needs are met, relationships are restored, and the watching world sees a glimpse of the kingdom of heaven.
This week, the invitation is to sow seeds of presence, encouragement, and tangible help. In doing so, we shine like stars in a world longing for hope, and our acts of generosity become expressions of thanks to God, drawing others to Him. We are blessed in Christ so that His goodness can flow through us, making Him known to all.
Psalm 67 (ESV) — > 1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
> 2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.
> 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!
> 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
> 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!
> 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us.
> 7 God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!
Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV) — > 1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
> 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
> 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-12 (ESV) — > 6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
> 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
> 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
> 9 As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
> 10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
> 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
> 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
And for us, this is a picture of us. I think sometimes we white knuckle, we hang on to our calendars, our schedules, our finances, our skills, our opportunities, our relationships, because when we see God coming, we think to ourselves, oh, he's just going to take it from us. And so we say, no, no, no, that's mine. And we fight it. And what we sometimes forget is that God is a good God who is not just trying to take from us, but that as we open up our hand and release this control that we think we have, that he is going to be there to give us more, to be generous toward us, because that is who God is. [00:02:58] (43 seconds) #ReleaseControlReceiveMore
``That is why God has blessed us. We are blessed to be a blessing to others. We are called as the people of God to be channels, not buckets. We are conduits of blessings. [00:08:38] (19 seconds) #BlessedToBeChannels
And yet for us, the reminder, the good news is that the only reason that we can go from this to this is because God, God moved toward us and opened his hand for us. From eternity, he had his heart and his mind set on you in love. And then at just the right time, he sent his son into the world to live the life that we couldn't live, to die the death that we deserved, to bear the weight of our shame, our guilt, our failures. [00:11:46] (41 seconds) #GodHeldNothingBack
Instead of standing before God and God seeing the scarlet red of our sin, he sees the righteousness of Christ. Because God opened his hand toward us, we can stand in right relationship with him, and our past is covered, our future is set, and our present is provided for. Right? We have a God who held nothing back, for us. [00:12:27] (32 seconds) #GenerosityReflectsGod
Meaning the people on the outside are seeing what's going on on the inside. And because of that, because of the love and the generosity that they've seen on display, they're praising God. And that is what it's all about. God blesses us in Christ so that His goodness can flow through us to others, so that they may experience His grace, His goodness, His mercy in real and tangible ways, and that He may be made known. [00:17:54] (32 seconds)
And so this week, may we all be channels or conduits of blessing and share His goodness with the world around us. So that He may be made known. [00:18:46] (15 seconds)
