#ImitateChristTogether
“And in our Christian lives, I've got a question. I'm gonna make this the application at the end. Alright? And that is, do we live our lives in a way that we would be willing to say, imitate me as I imitate Christ? That's a challenge. Or is there somebody around that we know that we need to imitate? Let's that's why you can't do church alone. You gotta come together as a body in Christ that we can encourage and build one another up, that there will be those around that'll be able to do that. I can look back at my spiritual mentors, and I know who they are and the things that they've instilled in my life to be able to follow as they imitated Christ. And that's what we need. And that's what as a spiritual father, he says the first thing is to imitate him in his position. And that imitation is coming from that point of love that he established up front.”

#SavedToBeHoly
“``And I wanna say, God didn't save us to make us healthy, wealthy, and wise. He saved us to make us holy before him. And that is the focus. Is there power towards people growing in holiness in their walk with the Lord? Now when Paul does this and he says, I'm gonna come and see, not just their words but their power, I think that's what he's taught. He's not worried about their power. He knows they have influence on others, and it's causing all of these problems. But he's like, there's no real power behind this, and I'm ready to come. And I'm going to see it firsthand as to what's going on.”

#TrueFriendSaysHardTruth
“Do you get that? It takes a good friend that's willing to say the hard things to you, and it can be tough. I had a friend do that to me before, and he was a true friend saying, you know what? You shouldn't be behaving in this way. And it was tough, and we were closer as a result of him coming up and saying, John, you need to change this. And it can be that way. And with Paul, he's bringing this together to go ahead and admonish the people here to be a real friend, to be someone who loves them, to be a spiritual father who's admonishing them in difficult things. And it's gonna get tough. He's gonna get specific in some of the things he gets to in chapter five.”

#KingdomPowerNotTalk
“Look at the lives of the people who are bringing in all these puffed up words, and is there power behind them? Are you seeing lives changed as a result of the things they're pointing at? Are people living and walking with the Lord or God in the things that they need to do? As I think about this and we look at that power, we often think, well, you know, what is it? You know, are we seeing, you know, people that were lame walking and, all of these other things? And Corinth had a problem with what they were doing with spiritual gifts and wanting to have those things up. That's not what I think he's talking about here. Does God heal? Amen. He does. Does God have the power to do those things and guide us? He does. But what is he really interested in in our lives?”
