The God who created the universe, last time I checked, which has been several years, but there's between 50 billion and $3 trillion galaxies, which is significant amount. There's a lot going on in the cosmos. And yet God looks at Samuel and calls him by name. You see this over and over in scripture. He does it with Jeremiah, he does it with Moses, and he's done it with you, he's done it with me. We're not just out here in the ether, just kind of surviving until our life ends. There's a God who is over all of those things, yet he's involved in the day to day life. He cares about what we're to do, going through. He knows us. He wants this personal relationship with Samuel. So he calls out to him and I will say this, thank God that he calls out to us. [00:57:00] (44 seconds)  #PersonalGodInCosmos

Here's the truth. There's not a single path to God. God is so far above us, we never could make it up the mountain. The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is he came down from the mountain, picks us up and carries us back up the mountain. Does this make sense? It's nothing we did. It's what he did. So we're so thankful that God calls Samuel. Samuel doesn't call out to God. God calls out to him. And it's only Samuel's job to respond. God wants to have a relationship with him. [00:57:52] (29 seconds)  #GodCallsWeRespond

It is one thing to hear God's voice, it's another thing to obey it. My aunt Donna, I think, is the only one here who may remember this. The first time I ever got up and spoke in of front of a group was after camp one year. I went to camp with them back in the day and I gave. I don't even know what I said. Something about Moses. That's all I remember. Moses was involved, but I had on a green camp shirt and we had a mic that you handheld. And I had my hand like this just because I was nervous, you know, Moses, whatever. And when I got done, y', all, I prayed and put my hand down. Finally I had a hand print. That's why I wear a coat now. I was getting, you know, I was mortified. I had this handprint and I was standing back there, you know, shaking people's head, terrified. Terrified. I knew God had called me, but I did not want to obey. Do you follow? I'm just being honest. It was outside of my comfort zone. People say I'm not wired up that way. I hate to tell you this, but I don't think God cares about that. In fact, I think often he says in weakness comes strength. [01:02:08] (63 seconds)  #HeraldsSpeakTruth

It wasn't Samuel's job to change the message. It wasn't Samuel's job to change, to soften the rough edges of what God said. It is never our job to alter what God says. Now, people don't like this. Today. I remember the first sermon I can ever remember preaching on hell. It was out of Luke 16, hard text. And a woman came up to me after, and she said, I appreciate what you said. Said. She said, but, son, you don't ever have to apologize for what God's word says. Do you see? I was, oh, you know, hell. And she's exactly right. It's not my job. The word in the New Testament, often used for preacher is herald. You think of the guy that used to blow the trumpet, you know, in Middle Ages, and unroll the scroll, and he was to read whatever the king said. It was never the herald's job to change the message, just to simply say what the king has said. That's still our job. Do you understand what I'm saying? We still got to tell people the truth. [01:04:49] (71 seconds)  #PersevereInCalling

We unceasingly persevere with God, you say? What do you mean? The text is real clear. Samuel just continues to do these three things over and over again. He continues to do what God's calling me to do for now, until he stops calling me to do it. And then once I hear him, I'm always listening. Once he tells me do something else, I'm going to obey and do it. And then the cycle is going to repeat. Does this make sense? That's what I mean, to persevere. [01:07:07] (23 seconds)  #ReadyToHear

``God has a call for you. He is a God who loves us. Psalm 139. He knit us together in our mother's womb. Y' all see that article? I just saw it this week. That is of kind come out. Scientists had nothing to do with God. He wasn't mentioned or Christianity. But they're able to see what happens when the sperm and the egg first meet. Did y' all read that article this week? It's a bunch of zinc is released is what the article said and causes this bright flash of light. And I'm just like y' all call it what you want to. That's God knitting people together in the mother's womb. Doesn't make sense. He's doing something in their life and he got a plan for you. [01:12:13] (37 seconds)

You do what you know generally to do until you hear his voice. Then obey his voice and don't ever stop next time you're doing what he calls you to do. He says, do something else. Yes, sir. No sir. I don't understand, sir. Those were the only three responses we could give our coach in basketball. Basically true for the Lord. Yes, sir. You want me to do this, I'll do it. I don't understand, sir. But I'm going to do it. That's all we can do. But God has something for you. Don't. Don't waste another day. Don't waste another moment. Seek him. You will find him and he will use you.
