#ShineTogether
“Not because somebody came in the room and said, hey, you're not alone. Not because somebody argued, no, no, no. There's people that care about you. They didn't argue them and tell them what they should think instead. It started with one light, and then another, and then another, and another. That's what it looks like to be the light of the world together. For each of us to shine the light of Jesus in our life. For those who are living in darkness, that is Caelus. That is the beauty, the compelling compassion of Jesus himself, reaching people where they are, to show them that there's a God who loves them.”

#YouAreNotBroken
“No matter what's happened in your life, what you've done, what's been done to you, you were still created and designed by God to reflect his light. You are not broken. You are not defective. You are not too far gone. You are not too messy. You just have drifted away from the light. And when you plug yourself back into relationship with him, when you plug yourself back into his church, back into his word, then not only does his light shine through you, but the mess that you've been through helps make people see that light even better because he can still work even through the darkness you've experienced.”

#GospelNotReligion
“Religion and the gospel get mixed up very easily, but they're two very different things. The gospel of Jesus saves. Religion drives people away from a God they never truly met. The the gospel says says he is enough. Religion tells you to be enough. The gospel tells us that that that that we are glad you are here. Religion says we're glad you're here when you act the way we want you to act. The gospel tells us that we obey God because he already loves us. Religion says we obey God, so he will love us.”

#LetYourGoodnessSpeak
“Jesus isn't telling you to set your life on a course to be the right, to do the right, to argue the right, to convince people the right, to tell people when they're not right. He's not saying let your rightness be heard. He's saying let your goodness, let people, when they look at your life, see something so beautiful from how you follow him that they are compelled to discover what it is.”

#LightThroughSacrifice
“As you read the end of Matthew, you read that in order for the for us to become the light of the world, Jesus had to give his life, sacrifice himself on the cross because of our brokenness and our darkness and our pain and our trauma and our choices. When he died, Matthew tells us that the light, the whole land was in darkness for three hours. Because the light of the world went out so it could be handed out to you.”

#YouAreTheLightNow
“And so we've gotta get connected. You gotta get back on the board, man. The more and more you connect with him, the more and more you connect with people that love you and love him, then the brighter that light's gonna shine. He says that you are the light of the world. He doesn't say you're becoming the light of the world. He doesn't say you become the light of the world when you act better. He doesn't say you become the light of the world when you're nicer to people. He doesn't say you become the light of the world when you stop cursing. He just says you are now. It's not you become, it's you come back to relationship with him.”

#CompellingGrace
“But that's what a gatheros does whenever we're trying to force the morality on somebody before they have the relationship. That's what religion does. But the gospel the gospel is supposed to be something that is beautiful, that is compelling, that they are drawn by our compassion, that they are drawn by our genuine heart, that they are drawn by the love of Jesus Christ, that they want to see the beauty in a life that follows after Christ and are drawn towards it rather than being blinded by our religion and our expectations of them.”

#SundayToMonday
“When you come on Sunday and hear that God loves you and cares about you and has a good plan for your life and has something beyond your mess, we don't want you to leave going home and go, oh, that's great. What do I do? We wanna teach you in a way that Sunday inspires and you know what to do with it on Monday. We wanna be a church that teaches the relevance of God's word because living out what you learn from his word is the way you shine his light.”
