Worship becomes electric when we stop angling spotlights on our preferences. The sanctuary isn’t about musical styles or service lengths—it’s about God’s holiness filling the room like stage lights. Creation shouts the same truth: sunrises and starfields don’t care about our opinions. They simply beam God’s creative genius. To praise Him means stepping out of our self-focused glare so His glory becomes the only illumination. What if every complaint about worship revealed a light we’ve stolen for ourselves? [48:58]

Worship isn’t a leisurely hobby but the sweat of shifting spotlights off our achievements and onto God’s covenant faithfulness. If your spiritual life feels easy, check where the lights are pointed. Every nation and generation deserves to see Him illuminated—not our dim opinions about music, politics, or traditions. Psalm 150 stands at the end of Israel’s hymn book like the final word: “Praise the Lord.” The psalmist answers why the church should make disciples of every generation and nation by putting God center stage. Praise is halel, a word that means to shine, exalt, or show. Praise turns the lights off of self and puts the light on God.

Verses 1 and 2 call God’s people to praise Him in the sanctuary, in creation, for His mighty deeds, and according to His excellent greatness. Worship preferences can grab the spotlight fast, whether the complaint is too loud, too quiet, too old, too new, too long, or too short. God belongs in the light, not personal preferences. Creation puts God in the light because the heavens, stars, sunrises, and living things display what human hands did not make. God’s mighty deeds also put fear in its proper place.
