Day 1: The Glowing Coal and the Fire of Community

A single coal removed from the fire grows cold, gray, and lifeless. But when returned to the flames, it burns bright again. This image mirrors our need for consistent connection—not just showing up, but actively sharing warmth, truth, and purpose. Isolation dulls our spiritual vitality, while community reignites our capacity to reflect God’s light. Like coals in a fireplace, believers thrive when linked to others who carry Christ’s fire. Returning may sting as dormant faith reawakens. Yet this discomfort proves life remains. God uses the friction of imperfect relationships to restore full spiritual sensation. [35:16]

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24–25, ESV)
